現代語訳
安政元年11月10日巳刻（午前10時頃）過ぎより大地震が揺れ始め、相模国小田原宿は大きく倒壊した。そこから伊豆下田では大津波が発生し、死者が多く出た。また東海道筋では、三島宿が大きく倒壊し宿場は半焼、沼津宿は大きく倒壊、原宿は少々の被害、吉原宿は大きく倒壊し宿場が少し焼け、岩淵宿は大きく倒壊し宿場は半焼、由比宿・興津宿は少々の被害、江尻宿は橋より東が焼け、府中宿は高札場より東が焼けた。箱根山は少し崩れたが、箱根権現が別条なかったのは神の御徳によるものである。

From past the Hour of the Snake (around 10 AM) on November 10th, Ansei 1st year (1854), a great earthquake began to shake the land. Odawara post station in Sagami Province was largely destroyed. From there, a great tsunami struck Shimoda in Izu Province, causing many deaths. Along the Tokaido highway: Mishima post station was largely destroyed and half-burned; Numazu post station was largely destroyed; Hara post station suffered minor damage; Yoshiwara post station was largely destroyed and partially burned; Iwabuchi post station was largely destroyed and half-burned; Yui post station and Okitsu post station suffered minor damage; Ejiri post station burned east of the bridge; and Fuchu post station burned east of the public notice board (kosatsu). Hakone Mountain suffered minor collapses, but the fact that Hakone Gongen shrine remained unharmed was due to the divine virtue of the gods.
