〇先達而他所之者当町へ立入滞留并居住等之儀御〆り方被仰付候処追々吟味書付
を以被相達及再評候処支配違并他領之者共引越罷在儀願等不申上為致居住
候儀組頭共不調法至極奉存候旨申上尤之事ニ候猶亦自今以後之儀ハ先達而申渡候
現代語訳
一、総じて格違いの者より御番組の内へ養いに願い出て侍中へ取組む件は、以来認められない。
但し、これまで養いに願い出ていた者は格別で、以来は前文の通り同輩限りに取組むこと。
陪臣より養子並びに女子縁談の件
一、本多内蔵助方は格別のことゆえ、家老用人を勤める家柄の者より養子並びに女子縁組を御家中へ取組む件は、すべて御構いなし。
一、内蔵助方家来で物頭以上
一、高知の家来で家老
右二ケ条の者より御番組へ養子並びに女子縁談取組は由緒なくとも差し支えない。

右三ケ条の内より御番組へ後妻取迎えの件も由緒なきにおいては願い御取上げしないこと。
一、右総じて願い出る節は、誰の家来で何の格かということを書き載せること。
一、遣る方の件は差し支えないこと。
右の通り、この度御穿鑿の上改めて仰せ出されるので、以来その旨心得るべきである。

○先達て他所の者が当町へ立入滞留並びに居住等の件について御締り方を仰せ付けられたところ、追々吟味書付をもって達せられ再評に及んだところ、支配違い並びに他領の者共が引越し罷り在る件で、願い等申し上げずに居住を致している件は、組頭共の不調法極まりないと存じ奉る旨申し上げ、もっともの事である。なお又、自今以後の件は先達て申し渡した通り

Article 1: Generally, petitions from those of lower rank to be adopted into guard units and arranged with the samurai class will no longer be permitted.
However, those who have already petitioned to be adopted are exceptions, and from now on arrangements shall be limited to peers as stated in the previous text.
Regarding Adoptions and Daughter Marriages from Retainers of Retainers
Article 1: Since Honda Kuranosuke's house is a special case, adoptions and daughter marriages from families of the rank that serve as chief retainers and administrators to the direct retainer group are entirely without restriction.
Article 1: Among Kuranosuke's retainers, those of company commander (monogashira) rank and above
Article 1: Among Kōchi's retainers, those of chief retainer rank
For these two categories, adoptions and daughter marriages with guard units are acceptable even without lineage.

For these two categories, acceptable lineage for adoptions and daughter marriages with guard units:
For adoptions: same family name and up to first cousins of the petitioning person
For daughter marriages: same family name and up to second cousins of the person taking the bride
For these two categories, taking second wives from guard units is acceptable even without lineage.

For these three categories, acceptable lineage for adoptions and daughter marriages with guard units:
For adoptions: same family name and up to actual nephews of the petitioning person
For daughter marriages: same family name and up to first cousins of the person taking the bride
For hereditary retainers who have served for generations, the above shall be granted, but for newcomers and such, petitions should not be submitted. The masters should also have understanding after thorough investigation.
For these three categories, taking second wives from guard units will not be accepted if there is no lineage.
Article 1: When making any of the above petitions, one must write whose retainer they are and what rank.
Article 1: Giving away is acceptable.
