貴人にハ太刀馬に洗ひかや
ずる事太刀をば のかたに
すこしのこ へてはくごとく
置物なり同馬ハくらをき
なりひき ておもてはかり
現代語訳
貴人には太刀と馬を洗わずに飾ることがある。太刀については、のこ（刀身の一部）を少し残して、箔を施すように置くものである。同じく馬については鞍を置いて飾り、引いて表側だけを見せる。
英語訳
For nobles, swords and horses are displayed without washing them. As for the sword, a portion of the blade (noko) is left slightly visible, and it is placed as if applying gold leaf. Similarly, for the horse, a saddle is placed as decoration, and it is positioned so that only the front side is visible.
