笠

短簪

【図の説明】
片帽
片帽はすべて黒色の絹で作られている。頭頂部は平らで、下の庇は六角形に作られている。寒い時に家にいる時の帽子である。医官や楽工、および王宮で茶を給仕する役割を担う者、僧のように髪を剃った者は皆これを被る。

笠
笠は多くが麦の茎で作られている。皮製の笠もある。外側に黒漆を塗り、内側を朱色に塗る。

短簪
短い髪結い用の簪は長さ三、四寸ほどである。すでに冠を被って頭頂部の髪を取り去った者がこれを挿す。花の形の頭部と円柱状の軸を持つ。方柱や六角柱のものもある。金が最も貴重で、金の頭部に銀の軸のものがそれに次ぎ、銀製がまたそれに次ぐ。銅製が最下位である。

長簪
長簪は長さ一尺余りである。婦人や幼童で大きな髷を結う者がこれを挿す。これも金・銀・銅の三品で貴賤を分ける。民家の女性の簪は皆玳瑁製である。

【Figure Descriptions】
片帽 (Flat Cap)
The flat caps are all made of black silk. They have a flat top and the lower brim is made with six ridges. This is a hat worn at home during cold weather. Medical officials, musicians, those who serve tea in the royal palace, and those who shave their hair like monks all wear these.

笠 (Sedge Hat)
Most sedge hats are made from wheat stalks. There are also leather hats. Black lacquer is applied to the outside, and the inside is painted vermillion.

短簪 (Short Hairpin)
Short hair-binding hairpins are about three to four sun in length. Those who already wear caps and have removed the hair from the top of their head insert these. They have flower-shaped heads and cylindrical shafts. There are also square and hexagonal shaft varieties. Gold is most precious, gold heads with silver shafts come next, silver comes after that. Copper is considered the lowest grade.

長簪 (Long Hairpin)
Long hairpins are over one shaku in length. Women and children who wear large chignons insert these. These are also divided into three grades of gold, silver, and copper to distinguish social status. The hairpins of women from common households are all made of tortoiseshell.
