雪はれておもひを遂る朝かな 金丸
朝起て大きに悦ひ急き祝せむとて同志内蔵助を初古傍輩両
三人合壁之者呼集て酒一通り廻し勝手より昆布勝栗菓子盆に入
出せは内蔵助下戸之肴には賞翫と悦ひ気附たる貴々と手にうけ
網の小謡【注】をくり返し謡候得は一座心なき者はおかしく思ひ候となり
是は十二月十四日上野介殿宅江惣込内匠頭様御忌日と云【願候処】幸なりと日取り
極候といへ共其頃打続き雪雨繁けれは若者共勢のたゆむへきかと智略の
夢物語とそ聞し

現代語訳
雪晴れて思いを遂ぐる朝かな 金丸
朝起きて大いに喜び、急いで祝おうとして同志の内蔵助をはじめ古い仲間両三人、合壁の者を呼び集めて酒を一通り回し、勝手（台所）より昆布・勝栗・菓子を盆に入れて出すと、内蔵助は下戸の肴には賞賛すべきものと喜び、気の利いた貴重なものと手に受けて、謡曲「網」の小謡を繰り返し謡ったところ、一座で心得のない者はおかしく思った。
これは十二月十四日上野介殿宅へ総攻撃をかける内匠頭様の御忌日ということで、幸いなりと日取りを決めたというが、その頃打ち続いて雪雨が多かったので、若者どもの勢いが衰えるのではないかという智略の夢物語だったと聞いている。

Rising in the morning with great joy, wanting to celebrate quickly, he called together comrades starting with Kuranosuke and two or three old companions and those sharing lodgings, passed around sake, and brought out from the kitchen kelp, victory chestnuts, and sweets on a tray. Kuranosuke, being a light drinker, was delighted saying these were admirable accompaniments for one who drinks little, and taking them in his hands as refined and precious things, he repeatedly sang the kouta "Ami" (Net), whereupon those in the gathering who lacked understanding found it amusing.
This concerns the decision to launch a general attack on Lord Kozuke-no-suke's residence on the fourteenth day of the twelfth month, being Lord Takumi-no-kami's death anniversary, which they deemed fortunate for setting the date. However, since snow and rain continued frequently around that time, I heard this was considered a clever dream-tale about whether the young men's vigor might flag.
