総州本庄夜討之次第
〇一四拾七人之面々当夜之装束は何となく火消役人之体に出立
肌に致着込其上に過半紅裏之半着物股引脚半頭には
甲の八鉢金計を火事頭巾へ縫包着仕候籠手臑当仕候者も
少々有之候右半着物之上に羽織を着仕候而白きたすきを
懸け申候由惣体は思ひ〳〵の支度に而候対之装束と申触候は
虚説也帯には鏁を入候て縫込候由

総州本庄夜討ちの次第
○四十七人の面々、当夜の装束は何となく火消し役人の体に出立ち、
肌に着込みを着用し、その上に過半数が紅裏の半着物・股引・脚半を着用、頭には
甲の八幡金ばかりを火事頭巾へ縫い包んで着用いたしました。籠手・臑当てをした者も
少々おりました。右の半着物の上に羽織を着用して、白い襷を
掛けたということです。総体的には思い思いの支度でありました。揃いの装束と申し触れたのは
虚説です。帯には鎖を入れて縫い込んだということです。

Account of the Night Attack at Hōnjō in Sōshū
○The forty-seven men's attire on that night was somewhat like that of fire brigade officials.
They wore undergarments next to their skin, and over that, more than half wore half-kimono with red lining, hakama trousers, and leg coverings. On their heads they wore only the metal bowl portion of helmets sewn and wrapped in fire hoods. Some also wore arm guards and shin guards. Over the aforementioned half-kimono they wore haori jackets and hung white sashes across their bodies. Overall, each prepared according to his own preference. The claim that they wore matching uniforms is false. They sewed chains into their obi sashes.

When Yasubei served as second in the duel at Takada-no-baba for his uncle, his obi was also cut, leaving him feeling vulnerable, so he told everyone to put chains in their obi.
