「此度、国王の命を奉じ、敵に向かって今日よりいよいよ進発しようとする。我がプロイセン国の諸子は、元来、敵に対して十分に功を遂げることは、もとより疑いのないことである。この挙に際し、奮励努力して敵を打ち破り、ローレルス（賞典の名）を得んことを欲せよ。されば、国中がこぞって汝らが勝利を誇り、勇壮であらんことを望んでいる。汝らは、これまで国人および敵国に対して争い……」

(Continued from previous page) ...had prepared to cross the Saar River. The most noble Prince among the Prussian commanders issued the following order to his troops on August 5th, saying:
"This time, bearing the King's command, we are about to advance against the enemy this very day. It has always been certain that the sons of our Prussia would achieve full distinction against the enemy. On this occasion, exert yourselves with utmost diligence, defeat the enemy, and seek to obtain the laurels (a name for honor and distinction). Therefore, the entire nation looks up with hope, wishing that you shall triumph with pride and valor. You have, until now, fought against both our countrymen's expectations and the enemy nations..."
