きぬがささう《蚤休（本草綱目）｜漢名未詳》一種
毒がある。山中に産する。春に一根から一茎を生じる。高さは一尺ほど。茎の頭に八、九枚の葉を生じ、傘のような形をしている。夏に中心から茎を生じて一花を開く。十弁で淡紫色、深紫色の模様がある。黄色の蕊を垂らす。蚤休の和産については、いまだ詳細が明らかでない。

博落廻（ハクラクカイ）《タケニグサ》《本草綱目蓖麻附録》
大毒がある。山中に生育する。春に古い根から苗を生じ、円い茎で節がなく中は空洞である。高さは五、六尺に及ぶ。葉は菊の葉の形に似ているが尖りはなく、大きさは尺に近い。茎と葉はともに白緑色で、これを切ると赤黄色の汁が出る。夏に茎の頭に小さな白い花を開き、穂をなす。後に莢を結ぶ。扁平で薄く、両端が尖り、中に小さな黒い種子がある。
この草は竹を煮るのに用いる。

Kinugasasou (Silk Umbrella Plant) 《Zaokyu (Compendium of Materia Medica) | Chinese name unknown》 One variety
It has toxicity. It is a mountain product. In spring, it produces one stem from one root. Height is about one shaku. At the top of the stem, it produces eight or nine leaves in an umbrella-like shape. In summer, it produces a stem from the center and opens one flower. It has ten petals of light purple color with deep purple patterns. It hangs yellow stamens. The details of the Japanese variety of zaokyu are not yet clear.

Hakurakukai (Bocconia) 《Takenikusa》《Compendium of Materia Medica, Castor Bean Appendix》
It has great toxicity. It grows in the mountains. In spring, it produces shoots from old roots, with round stems that have no joints and are hollow inside. Height reaches five to six shaku. The leaves resemble the shape of chrysanthemum leaves but without points, and their size approaches one shaku. Both stems and leaves are white-green in color, and when cut, they emit red-yellow juice. In summer, it opens small white flowers at the top of the stem, forming spikes. Later it produces pods that are flat and thin with pointed ends on both sides, containing small black seeds inside.
This plant is used for boiling bamboo.
