蠑螈　一種で全体が純粋に赤いものは得ることが稀で、千万匹中に一、二匹のみである。文化三年丙寅
　年三月十五日に親しく観察し、奇品として図に描き、同好の
　君子に示すものである。
　赤いものは背上が赤褐色で、
　腹下は丹朱の鮮紅色で愛らしく、
　形は普通のものと
　比べるとやや小さい。

Salamander　Among one species, those that are entirely pure red are rarely obtained - only one or two among ten million. On the fifteenth day of the third month of Bunka 3, year of the Fire Tiger,
　I personally observed this and drew it as a rare specimen to show to fellow
　enthusiasts.
　The red specimen has a reddish-brown color on its back,
　and a bright vermillion red color on its belly that is lovely to behold.
　Its form is somewhat smaller
　compared to ordinary ones.
