先輩蛤蚧ニ充ルモノ疑ハ是ナルベシ蛤蚧和産ナシ
右ニ同シ山椒ウヲハ山上ウオナリト云此モノ腹赤シ故ニ赤ハラト云又千貫
虫トモ云　魚類ニ非ス水蜥蜴ノ類ナリ

【右丁】
この肥大で黒色のものは、羽州秋田郡香山寺山の清水中に産するものである。雲南草を以て
先輩が蛤蚧に充てるものは、疑いなくこれであろう。蛤蚧は和産（日本産）がない。
右に同じ。山椒魚は山上魚であると言う。このものは腹が赤いので赤腹と言い、また千貫
虚とも言う。魚類ではなく水蜥蜴の類である。

This large, black-colored specimen is a product of the clear water in Mount Kōyama-ji in Akita District, Uzen Province. What our predecessors used as a substitute for gecko using Yunnan grass is undoubtedly this. There is no domestically produced gecko in Japan.
Same as above. The salamander is called "mountain fish." This creature has a red belly, hence called "red-belly," and also called "thousand kan worm." It is not a fish but a type of water lizard.
