現代語訳
女三の宮は朱雀院の御娘である。柏木の衛門督がひそかにお慕い申し上げるようになった後、その宮に猫がいるのを見て、柏木が歌を詠んだ。
恋しく思う人の形見として手に馴らしているのなら、なぜ離れてしまうのか。どうしてこのように鳴く声になるのだろうか。
