手をこと〴〵く打折 雨（あめ）より繁（しげ）き敵（てき）の矢を
こと〴〵く切払（きりはら）ふ海賊（かいそく）ども是を見て似合（にあい）ざる
まいすの腕（うで）だてかな只（たゝ）討取（うちと）れとこぎ寄（よす）る法師
帆（ほ）柱（□□ら）を取 直（なを）し船（ふね）の腹（はら）をつき破（やふ）ればその船の
海賊 忽（たちまち）うしほにおぼれて海底（かいてい）の滓（もくず）とぞ成ける
残る海賊ども是を見て振（ふる）ひわなゝきしてにげ
帰（かへ）るたゝかひ終（おは）りてかの法師の姿（すがた）忽（たちまち）きへうせて
見へざりしかは船中の人々奇異（きい）の思ひをなし
是 仏神（ぶつしん）の我等（われら）すくひ給ふとぞ悦び程なく
東福寺へ着し年貢（ねんく）を送（おく）り納め奇異の法師

勇（ゆう）力を以て必死（ひつし）の難（なん）をまぬかれし由三章寺
にて物語しけれは一山の衆徒（しゆと）大におどろき
扨此 不審（ふしん）はれ申たり此 頃（ごろ）当寺の二王に一夜の
内に矢多く射立ありしをその矢印を見るに
讃州（さんしう）塩分（しわく）の何 某（かし）としるせりといふ佐藤
かんるいを流（なか）し船へ射込（いこみ）たる矢を取出し
見るに違（たが）ふ所もなく扨は疑（うたが）ふところもなく
二王の軍（いくさ）に出給ひ我をすくい給ふ有がたさ
よとて諸人 奇異（きい）の思ひをなしけれは是
よりしてそのころ遠（とを）く渡海（とかい）に趣（おもむく）く【ママ】もの

熊手をことごとく打ち折り、雨よりも激しく降る敵の矢をことごとく切り払った。海賊どもはこれを見て、「似合わない武芸の腕前だな。ただ討ち取れ」と漕ぎ寄せた。法師は帆柱を取り直して船の腹を突き破ると、その船の海賊たちはたちまち潮に溺れて海底の藻屑となった。残りの海賊どもはこれを見て震え慄いて逃げ帰った。戦いが終わると、かの法師の姿はたちまち消え失せて見えなくなったので、船中の人々は不思議に思い、これは仏神が我々を救い給うたのだと喜んだ。程なく東福寺へ着き、年貢を送り納めた。不思議な法師の勇力によって必死の難を免れた由を三章寺で物語ったところ、一山の衆徒は大いに驚き、「さて、この不審が晴れました。この頃、当寺の二王門に一夜のうちに矢が多く射立てられていましたが、その矢印を見ると讃州塩飽の何某と記されていました」と言った。佐藤は涙を流し、船へ射込まれた矢を取り出して見ると、違うところもなく、「さては疑うところもなく、二王が軍に出給い、我を救い給うた有り難さよ」と言って、諸人は不思議に思った。これより後、その頃遠く渡海に赴く者は

He completely broke all the grappling hooks and cut away all the enemy arrows that fell thicker than rain. Seeing this, the pirates said, "What unexpected martial skill! Just kill him!" and rowed closer. The monk readjusted his grip on the mast and thrust it through the hull of their ship, whereupon the pirates on that vessel immediately drowned in the tide and became foam at the bottom of the sea. The remaining pirates, seeing this, trembled and shook with fear as they fled. When the battle ended, the monk's figure suddenly vanished and could no longer be seen. The people on the ship found this mysterious and rejoiced, believing that Buddha and the gods had come to save them. Before long they arrived at Tōfuku-ji and delivered the annual tribute. When they told the story at Sanshō-ji of how they had escaped mortal danger through the mysterious monk's brave strength, all the monks of the temple were greatly astonished and said, "Now this mystery is solved! Recently, many arrows were shot into our temple's Niō gate in a single night, and when we examined the arrow tags, they were marked with the names of various persons from Shiwaku in Sanshū province." Satō shed tears and took out the arrows that had been shot into their ship to examine them - there was no difference at all.
