抑（そも〳〵）源家（けんけ）の濫觴（らんしやう）を尋（たつぬる）に人 王（わう）五十六
代清和天 皇（わう）第（たい）六の宮（みや）中務（なかつかさ）卿（けう）
貞純（さだずみ）親王（しんわう）と申たてまつるは
一条大宮 桃園（ももその）の宮（みや）に住（すま）せ玉ふ
御 子（こ）經基（つねもと）王（おヽきみ）は第六の皇子（わうじ）の御（おん）
孫（まご）なるにより六 孫王（そんわう）と称（しやう）し
奉（たてまつ）る延喜（ゑんき）七年十月五日御年
十五 歳（さい）にて御 元服（げんぶく）あり右馬介（むまのすけ）
に任（にん）し正（しやう）六位（ろくい）上（せう）に叙（じよ）せらる

現代語訳
【幡と剣を受ける図】
そもそも源家の起源を尋ねると、人王五十六代清和天皇第六皇子中務卿貞純親王と申し上げる方は、一条大宮桃園の宮にお住まいになった。その御子である経基王は第六皇子の御孫であることから六孫王と称し申し上げる。延喜七年十月五日、御年十五歳で御元服があり、右馬介に任じられ正六位上に叙せられた。この時初めて源の姓を賜り、「日本の大将軍、武士の棟梁となるべし」として白幡一流れ、螺鈿の御剣一振りを添えて下し賜った。

When we trace the origins of the Minamoto clan, Prince Sadazumi, the sixth son of Emperor Seiwa (the 56th sovereign), Minister of the Bureau of Central Affairs, resided at the Momozona Palace in Ichijo-Omiya. His son, Prince Tsunemoto, was called Rokuson'o (Six-Generation Prince) because he was the grandson of the sixth imperial prince. On the fifth day of the tenth month of Engi 7 (907 CE), at the age of fifteen, he underwent his coming-of-age ceremony and was appointed to the position of Uma-no-suke (Assistant Director of the Right Imperial Stables) and granted the court rank of Senior Sixth Rank Upper Grade. At this time, he was first granted the surname Minamoto and was bestowed a white banner and a precious sword decorated with mother-of-pearl inlay, being told he would become "the great general of Japan and the leader of all warriors."
