**晴雨考　序**

「考」とは何ぞや。すなわち五運六気の詳考のみなり。
上は天文を窺いて風雨・晦明・水旱を察し、下は地理を窮めて万穀の豊荒を考え、中は人身を悉くして流行病患を明らかにす。その機に臨み、その変に応ずるときは、則ち天災なし。

**Preface to "A Study of Fair and Rainy Weather" (Seiu-kō)**

What is meant by the word "study" (考)? It is nothing other than a detailed investigation of the Five Movements and Six Qi.
Above, one gazes into the heavens to discern wind and rain, darkness and light, flood and drought; below, one exhausts the principles of geography to examine the abundance or failure of the myriad grains; in the middle, one thoroughly comprehends the human body to illuminate epidemic diseases. When one responds to the workings of these changes as they arise, then there shall be no heavenly disasters.
