之よし東海道筋人馬往来留り候趣ニ御座候実ニ天変地妖さま〳〵

伊豆の人の水戸といへる所より領主公の御館へ訴し出候ものゝ物
語に有之箱根の御関所ハ別条なく箱根本陣分五六軒
潰れ家これあるよし此水戸といへる地は三嶌の駅より三り
余り偏たりし海辺の地にて貢米を上へ奉るはかりに用意
なし浪うち際へ持運行くおりかゝる地震にて浪さへあらく
く貢米は浪のために海へ持得たかるやはた家の数十余り
其うち人馬浪にむかれ得しとなむ村の長等此事を上へとく
聞めたてまつらんとてあけつるおのこなれとミちいとや
ふれ地のふるへ浪のあらきしため往かふ人もなき由候にからふ
し候八里いふかに大都にはつなぬとこゝろんも上の用人たちより
沙汰給ふよし？？？天のかたにたまへき東海道の道路やふ
れ人馬の往来たえしまゝ友に申けり飛脚の便たへぬるよし丹羽

現代語訳
崩れ潰れ、これもまた山中より水が湧き出し、山上の大石が飛び出すという恐ろしい有様であるとのこと。東海道筋では人馬の往来が止まっている様子で、実に天変地異の様々なことで恐縮しております。
十一月十一日発
伊豆の人で水戸という所の者が領主の御館へ訴え出た者の物語によると、箱根の御関所は別条なく、箱根本陣で五六軒の潰れ家があるとのこと。この水戸という地は三島の駅より三里余り離れた海辺の地で、年貢米を上納するばかりに用意し、波打ち際へ運んで行く折にかかる地震で、波さえ荒く、年貢米は波のために海へ持ち去られ、家の数十余り、そのうち人馬が波にさらわれて死んだという。村の長らがこのことを上へとくと聞こえ申し上げようとして明け方の男であるが、道がひどく荒れ、地が震え、波が荒いために往き来する人もないということで、困っている。八里というはるか大都には伝わらないと心配するも、上の用人たちより沙汰があるとのこと。天の方に祈るべき東海道の道路が荒れ、人馬の往来が絶えたままで、友に申したところ、飛脚の便も絶えたとのこと。丹羽氏が物語った。

According to the story of a person from Izu, from a place called Mito, who made a petition to his lord's mansion: Hakone checkpoint suffered no particular damage, but there were five or six collapsed houses at the Hakone honjin. This place called Mito is a coastal area more than three ri away from Mishima station, where they only prepare to tribute rice to the authorities. While carrying it to the water's edge, this earthquake occurred, and with the waves being so rough, the tribute rice was carried away to the sea by the waves. Among the dozens of houses, people and horses were swept away by the waves and died. The village headmen, wanting to properly report this matter to the authorities, were men of dawn, but the roads were severely damaged, the ground shook, and the waves were rough, so no one could travel back and forth, causing great difficulty. Though they worried that word would not reach the great capital eight ri away, there was word from the officials above. They should pray to heaven. With the Tōkaidō roads damaged and the movement of people and horses completely cut off, when told to friends, the courier service had also been severed. Lord Niwa told this story.
On the 4th day of the 11th month of Kaei 7, year of the Tiger, from the late hour of the Dragon (around 8-9 AM), great shaking began, and on the 5th day at the middle hour of the Monkey (around 3 PM), great shaking occurred again, continuing four or five times until the hour of the Dog that night (around 8 PM).
