両替仲間に而遣候由相聞候に付京大坂堺近江之分
潰等迄外に而売買不致潰直段を以後藤四郎兵衛方へ
買請させ目軽古分銅内々に而売買致間敷旨
度々相触候所今以西国幷長崎筋に而者古分銅多
売買致用候由相聞候此已後内々に而売買いたし候義は
勿論不隠置四郎兵衛方へ可相渡候尤四郎兵衛方ゟ分銅改
役人相廻り紛敷分銅者取上候筈に候其趣急度
可相守者也右之通先年ゟ度々相触後藤四郎兵衛
役人相廻り改候所近来紛敷分銅をも用ひ候由
相聞候に付此度四郎兵方ゟ分銅改役人相廻紛敷
分銅は取上筈に候間其旨急度可守者也

両替仲間において使用している由聞き及びましたので、京都・大坂・堺・近江の分については
破損等まで外で売買せず、破損直段をもって後藤四郎兵衛方へ
買い請けさせ、目軽古分銅を内々で売買してはならない旨
度々触れ申したところ、今でも西国並びに長崎筋では古分銅を多く
売買し使用している由聞き及んでおります。これ以後内々で売買いたす件は
もちろん隠し置かず、四郎兵衛方へ渡すべきです。もっとも四郎兵衛方より分銅改め
役人が巡回し、紛らわしい分銅は取り上げる筈です。その趣旨をきっと
守るべきものです。右の通り先年より度々触れ、後藤四郎兵衛
役人が巡回し改めたところ、近来紛らわしい分銅をも用いている由
聞き及びましたので、この度四郎兵衛方より分銅改め役人が巡回し、紛らわしい
分銅は取り上げる筈ですので、その旨きっと守るべきです。
右の通り御料は御代官、私領は領主・地頭より触れるべきです。以上

組切一紙の受書を提出すべきです。この状は先々遅滞なく

英語訳
We have heard that [old weights] are being used among money exchange guilds, so regarding those from Kyoto, Osaka, Sakai, and Omi,
even damaged ones should not be sold elsewhere, but should be
purchased by Goto Shirōbei's office at damaged goods prices,
and light old weights should not be bought and sold privately. This has been
proclaimed repeatedly, but we still hear that in the western provinces and along the Nagasaki routes, many old weights are being
bought, sold, and used. Hereafter, regarding private buying and selling,
of course nothing should be concealed, and [such weights] should be handed over to Shirōbei's office. Moreover, inspection officials from Shirōbei's office will
make rounds, and suspicious weights are to be confiscated according to the regulations. This directive must be
strictly observed. As stated above, this has been proclaimed repeatedly since previous years, and Goto Shirōbei's
officials have made inspection rounds, but recently we have heard that suspicious weights are also being used,
so this time inspection officials from Shirōbei's office will make rounds, and suspicious
weights are to be confiscated, so this directive must be strictly observed.
As stated above, for shogunal lands the deputy officials, and for private domains the lords and land stewards should make the proclamation. The above.
Rabbit 6th month [June 1831]
As stated above,
there has been an official bakufu proclamation, so regardless of who in the village groups, [the directive] should be communicated to each one,
and a receipt document for each village group should be submitted. This document should be circulated to successive [villages] without delay
and returned from the completed villages. The above.
For this honorable receipt document,
[we] respectfully exclude [ourselves].
