あきらけきみ世は
千船もわたりあけむ 鴨居村
こゝよりの船路を相模
灘とそいふなる浮雲
のいまた晴やらねは
不二の高嶺は
さらにもいはす
ちかき大嶋たに
みえすさかみの 浦賀港
さき〳〵も遠く
はなれてあはひの貝
ふせたるほとに江の 見魚嵜
嶋のみえたるも 燈明台
やかて雲霧に
へたゝりて浪より
外にみるものもなし
なれてもうとき浪の
おとかなとのたまひしは 千代嵜
相模川なるをわたつみの
千重の浪路の何かは
こゝろやすからむ人々に 霍嵜

相模川といふ川あり
月さしいてゝのち舟
にのりてわたるとて
夕つくよさすや川せの
みなれ棹なれてもうとき
なみのおとかな
現代語訳
明らかなこの御世には
千艘もの船が往来することでしょう（鴨居村）
ここからの船路を相模灘というそうです。浮雲が
いまだ晴れないので
富士の高峰は
言うまでもなく
近くの大島さえ
見えません。相模の（浦賀港）
岬々も遠く
離れて、淡の貝が
伏せているうちに江の（見魚崎）
島が見えたのも（燈明台）
やがて雲霧に
遮られて、波以外に
見るものもありません。
「慣れてもなじめない波の
音よ」とおっしゃったのは（千代崎）
相模川のことですが、海の
幾重もの波路がどうして
心安らかでいられましょうか。人々に（霍崎）

相模川という川があり
月が差し出た後、舟に
乗って渡るときに詠んだ歌
「夕月夜さすや川瀬の水馴れ棹、慣れてもなじめない
波の音よ」
英語訳
In this enlightened reign,
even a thousand ships may cross the waters (Kamoi Village)
The sea route from here is called
Sagami Bay. Since the floating clouds
have not yet cleared,
Mount Fuji's high peak
goes without saying,
even nearby Oshima
cannot be seen. The various capes (Uraga Port)
of Sagami are far
away, and while the shells of Awaji
lie hidden, Eno- (Miuo Cape)
shima came into view (Lighthouse)
but was soon
obscured by clouds and mist,
leaving nothing to see but waves.
"Even when familiar, the sound of waves (Chiyo Cape)
remains alien" - this was said about
the Sagami River, but how could
the countless wave-paths of the sea (Ibuki Cape)
bring peace of mind? Even the memory
of parting from people

There is a river called Sagami River.
After the moon appeared, when
crossing by boat, this poem was composed:
"Evening moonlight shines on the river rapids,
the familiar pole, yet the sound of waves remains alien"
