くたる こゝより湯河原も遠からしといふにそゆきて
みんとてゆく谷間のほそみちをひたくたりにくたる
なりまろき石おきわたせる谷川のなかれをかなたこな
たへいくつともなくわたりてからうしてさとちかき所に
いづほともなく湯河原にいたる宮上村といふとそうまや
めきたるやとにいこひて湯あみなとす山みちのけはし
かりしにこうして帰さにはえものほらすこゝより門川と
いふ所にいたり舟にてあたみのやとりにかへる
十三日 空はれたり
十四日 けふも空はりたりともにしるすへき事なし

現代語訳
下る。ここより湯河原も遠くないというので、そこへ行って見ようとて行く。谷間の細道をひたすら下りに下るのである。丸い石を置き渡せる谷川の流れを、あちらこちらへ幾つともなく渡って、からうじて里近き所に出る。いつの間にか湯河原に至る。宮上村というそうな。馬屋のようなやどに憩いて、湯浴みなどをする。山道の険しかったのに懲りて、帰りにはもう歩けない。ここより門川という所に至り、舟にて熱海の宿りに帰る。
十三日 空晴れたり。
十四日 今日も空晴れたり。共に記すべき事なし。
十五日 今日は来宮の宵祭りなりというのに雨の

descending. Since they say Yugawara is not far from here, we decide to go and see it. We walk along the narrow path in the valley, continuously descending. Crossing the valley stream with round stones placed across it, going back and forth countless times, we finally emerge near a village. Before we know it, we arrive at Yugawara. It's called Miyakami Village. We rest at an inn that looks like a stable and take hot spring baths. Having suffered from the treacherous mountain path, we cannot walk on the return journey. From here we go to a place called Mongawa, and return to our lodgings in Atami by boat.
13th day: The sky cleared.
14th day: Today the sky also cleared. There is nothing worth recording for either day.
15th day: Today is said to be the eve festival of Kinomiya Shrine, but it's raining
