〇凡此編に載る所各其実を繹問ひて誌せしといへとも悤劇【恖も劇も忙しいの意】中
の筆録にして聞ひかめ【聞き間違い】たる事なしといふへからすされと多端にし

〇浅草田町編笠茶屋松屋新兵衛か養女ひさは客を送りて吉原江戸
町弐丁目の娼家にありしか地震に駭（オトロ）き辛ふして逃【「迯」は俗字】出家の近処【處】に
至りし時一円【圓】に炎となりて立寄る事叶はされと義理ある両親な
れは殊に其まゝにさし置逃【迯」】んやうなし倶に死んと覚悟して火中
を恐れす入りて見るに我家傾たれと未火移らすよつて父新兵衛
を助け出しやり又母かつを抱き助けて出る頃ははや火移りたれは
ひさは西部【腰部のことか】手足焼たゞれたれと命を全ふし三人ともに助りぬと
〇浅草砂利場に住る盲人松和《割書：按摩｜とり》は地震に家潰れ其下になり
十月廿七日にいたり潰家を片付んとせし時家の下にて人声幽に聞え

とのこと。十二月二十五日に官府に召されて御褒美があり、銀二枚を給わった。それ
以来、遊客が通うことが日夜絶えないという。
○およそこの編に載せるところは、それぞれその実情を詳しく問い合わせて記したとはいうものの、慌ただしい
中での筆録であって、聞き間違いがないとは言えない。しかし多忙で
再び問い合わせて明らかにする手段もないので、そのままにしておく。
前に挙げた家や場所にはそれぞれ姓名を載せたので、必ずしも他人の
閲覧を許すべきではない

○浅草田町の編笠茶屋松屋新兵衛の養女ひさは、客を送って吉原江戸
町二丁目の遊郭にいたが、地震に驚き、辛うじて逃げ出して家の近くに
着いた時、一面に炎となって立ち寄ることが叶わなかった。しかし義理ある両親なので、
そのまま見捨てて逃げることもできず、共に死のうと覚悟して火中を
恐れずに入って見ると、我が家は傾いていたがまだ火は移っていなかったので、父新兵衛を
助け出してやり、また母かつを抱いて助けて出る頃には、もう火が移っていたので、
ひさは腰部や手足が焼けただれたが、命を全うし、三人とも助かった。
○浅草砂利場に住む盲人松和（按摩取り）は、地震で家が潰れてその下敷きになり、
十月二十七日に至り、潰れた家を片付けようとした時、家の下で人の声がかすかに聞こえ

On December 25th, she was summoned by the government office and received a reward of two pieces of silver. Since then, pleasure-seeking customers have been visiting continuously day and night.
○Generally speaking, what is recorded in this compilation was written after making detailed inquiries about the actual circumstances of each case, but these were notes taken down in haste, so it cannot be said that there are no mishearings. However, being too busy to make further inquiries to clarify matters, I have left things as they are. Since I have included the names of the houses and places mentioned above, this should not necessarily be made available for others to read.

○The following eight entries are records by the lacquerer Kōun (copied with slight textual modifications from what was borrowed from the elderly Yasuda Tōtei)
○Hisa, the adopted daughter of Shinbei of Matsunya, the sedge hat teahouse in Asakusa Tamachi, was at a brothel in Yoshiwara Edo-machi 2-chōme after seeing off a customer when she was startled by the earthquake and barely managed to escape. When she reached the vicinity of her house, it was completely engulfed in flames and she could not approach. However, since they were her adoptive parents to whom she owed gratitude, she could not simply abandon them and flee, so she resolved to die together with them and fearlessly entered the fire. When she looked, she found that although her house had tilted, the fire had not yet spread to it, so she helped her father Shinbei escape, and then carried out her mother Katsu. By the time they emerged, the fire had already spread, so Hisa's lower body, hands and feet were severely burned, but she preserved her life and all three were saved.
○A blind man named Matsukazu (a masseur) who lived in Asakusa Jariba had his house collapse in the earthquake and was trapped underneath. On October 27th, when they tried to clear away the collapsed house, a human voice was faintly heard from under the house
