現代語訳

嵩山房は以前に『唐詩選図会』を刊行した。その際、各篇から三、四首あるいは五、七首を抜き出したが、思いつくままに選んだもので順序がなかった。しかし幸い世に広まった。それに依って、今回は先の刻本で残った詩を用いて続編を刻むことにした。そこで前回の版に倣い、詩章の国字（ひらがな）による略解を求め、前の北斎を一老人として、その意を図画で表現させ、後篇とすることにした。前回刻行の時には、後に続刊することは予定していなかった。

そのため五言律詩、七言律詩、五言排律詩などの各篇を、思いつくままに抜き取り、作者の時代の前後についても順序がない。この篇でもそれを改めることはできない。そしてそれに従うため、初唐・盛唐・中唐・晩唐の順序がないことを怪しまないでほしい。この篇はもとより大人のためのものではなく、専ら児童に唐詩を覚えさせるためのものである。

Kozanbo previously published the "Illustrated Tang Poetry Selection." At that time, they selected three or four pieces, or five to seven pieces from various sections, chosen at random without any particular order. Fortunately, it became popular in the world. Based on this, they now use the poems remaining from the previous publication to create a sequel. Therefore, following the previous edition, they requested simplified explanations in kana script for the poems, and had the former Hokusai, now an old man, illustrate their meanings with drawings for this latter volume. When the previous edition was published, there were no plans for a sequel.

Therefore, various sections of five-character regulated verse, seven-character regulated verse, five-character extended regulated verse, etc., were selected randomly, with no chronological order of the poets' periods. This volume also cannot remedy this situation. Following this approach, please do not find it strange that there is no order of Early Tang, High Tang, Middle Tang, and Late Tang periods. This volume is certainly not intended for adults, but specifically for children to memorize Tang poetry.
