　　　　　　　　本綱に馬蘭と云う者は別に載せてあり、これは紫菊なり。これを按ずるに、その説によれば
　　　　　　　　薑黄（ハラン）であると記してある。一物にして別なり。二図をもって説くといえども、詳しくその是非は
　　　　　　　　定かではない。

　　　　　　I [Baien] state:
　　　　　　　　In the Bencao Gangmu, what is called "Maran" is listed separately; this refers to purple chrysanthemum. Upon examination of that explanation,
　　　　　　　　it is recorded as being Haran (Aspidistra). They are one thing yet treated as separate. Although two illustrations are provided to explain,
　　　　　　　　it is not entirely clear which is correct.
