射干 本草に云く射干一名
烏扇射音夜和名からすあふぎ
直脚 和漢三才図会に載せる射干は
胡蝶花の図とする。これは射干にあらず、よく檜
扇に合う。その葉は鳥の翅及び扇のごとく、中より
茎を抽き、六月に開花し萱花のごとく黄紅色、
弁の上に細点有り。射干にあらず。射干は
今云う檜扇なり。最も頌が説を取ると謂うは
甚だしき迷いなり。同書に載める異名もまた
烏扇の図を分ち、また烏扇にあらず。胡蝶花の
花状は鳶尾花に似て小さく、灰白色にして
黄文有りて実を結ばず。これは烏扇にあらず、
胡蝶花なり。道安は才を以て
別に弁ぜし者なり。然れども世
俗のいわゆる烏扇は乃ち
射干と一物なり。本草
綱目は射干と

射干の名に三つ有り。仏教の射干は
これは悪獣にて青黄の狗に似て人を食らい
よく緑木に登る。阮公が云うは射干は層

草の射干はこれ草にて即ち今の人の
種うる所の者なり。射の字は神夜の切で音

The Wamyō Ruijushō states:
Shagan The Honzō states that shagan, also called
ōsen, pronunciation "ya," Japanese name karasu-afugi
Author's note: The shagan recorded in the Wakan Sansai Zue
depicts it as a butterfly flower illustration. This is not shagan but rather corresponds
well to hiōgi. Its leaves are like bird wings and fans, with
stems emerging from the center, flowering in June like day lilies in yellow-red color,
with fine spots on the petals. This is not shagan. Shagan is
what we now call hiōgi. To adopt Song's theory would be
a grave error. The alternative names recorded in the same book also
separate the ōsen illustration, which is also not ōsen. The butterfly flower's
flower form resembles iris flowers but smaller, grayish-white
with yellow markings and does not produce fruit. This is not ōsen but
butterfly flower. Dōan distinguished these
separately with his talent. However, what the common
people call ōsen is indeed
the same plant as shagan. The Honzō
Kōmoku treats shagan and
ōsen as one plant.
Therefore, the Wamyō
Shō also states this.
This theory is most correct.
The explanation in that book
should be considered incorrect.
There are three names for shagan. The Buddhist shagan is
a fierce beast resembling a blue-yellow dog that eats people
and can climb green trees well. What Ruan Gong called shagan overlooking layered
cities refers to a tree, particularly tall ones. The Hon-
zō's shagan is an herb, namely what people
cultivate today. The character "sha" is pronounced with the "shin-ya" cut, sounding like
"snake," and is the name of a beast, namely the tiger's
shooting skill
