【本文】
此御哥の心は此みかど仁心ふかくまし
〳〵て秋のかりいほのつゆしもにあれ
てまばらなるに入り御らんじてたみ
百せうのかんなんをさつし給ひわれ
はかしこくも一天のきみ【一天下(いちてんが＝世の中全体。一国全体。)を治める君。天皇の異称。】なれどやはり
わが袖にもつゆかゝれりましてやかろき【身分の低い】
ものゝなりはひするにはいかほどのなんぎ
があらんとの御心なりかりほのいほと
はいねのかりほなど入るゝ小屋の事也

【本文】
この御歌の意味は、この帝（天智天皇）は仁徳深く、ますます秋の仮庵の露霜に荒れてまばらになった田を御覧になって、民百姓の苦難を察知なさり、「自分は畏れ多くも天下を治める君主であるけれども、やはり自分の袖にも露がかかっている。ましてや身分の低い者が生業をするのにはどれほどの苦労があることだろう」との御心である。「かりほの庵」とは、稲の仮小屋などに入る小屋のことである。

【Main Text】
The meaning of this imperial poem is as follows: This emperor (Emperor Tenji) was deeply benevolent, and when he observed the autumn rice fields that had become sparse and desolate from the dew and frost of the temporary huts, he perceived the hardships of the common people. His imperial sentiment was: "Although I am reverently the sovereign who rules the realm, even my sleeves get wet with dew. How much more difficult must it be for those of humble station to make their living?" "Kariho no io" refers to the temporary huts used during rice harvesting.
