〽北陸（ほくりく）のつなみ騒（さわ）ぎはなか〳〵に眼（め）も当（あて）られぬ
有形（ありさま）は離（はな）れ〴〵に親（をや）と子（こ）がなるも宿世（しゆくせ）の縁（えん）かいな
〽親（をや）の譲（ゆづ）りの家蔵（いへくら）を地震（ぢしん）の為（ため）につぶされて
なんと十方（とはう）に暮（くれ）の鐘（かね）これも自然（じぜん）の天（てん）さいな
〽地震（じしん）のあとの大（おほ）つなみ驚（おどろ）く中（なか）へまた火事（くわじ）と
生（いけ）る心（こゝろ）は更（さら）になし実（しつ）に大（おほ）きな難（なん）かいな
〽先祖代々（せんぞだい〴〵）伝（つたは）りし宝物（ほうもつ）田地（でんち）おし流（なが）し何所（とこ）へ
行（いく）にもあてはなし早（はや）く救（すく）ひはこんかいな
〽禍（わざは）ひ蒙（かふむ）る三県（さんけん）は後（のち）の世（よ）までもはなしだね
聞（きく）も憐（あは）れな青森（あをもり）に岩手（いわで）宮城（みやぎ）の県（けん）かいな
〽一時（いちじ）よせ来（く）る大（おほ）つなみ逃（にげ）るも引（ひく）もあらばこそ
腹（はら）に動気（どうき）を打浪（うつなみ）の胸（むね）はどん〳〵ドンかいな
〽聞（きく）も語（かた）るも皆涙（みななみ）だこんどつなみの人死（ひとじに）は
負傷（ふしやう）合（あは）せて六万 余（よ）実（じつ）にむざんな事（こと）かいな
〽万死（ばんし）をのがれて一生（いつしやう）をたすかる漁師（れうし）の運強（うんづよ）く
不幸（ふこう）のうちの僥倖（さいわい）はおめぐみ下（くだ）さる

♪北陸の津波騒ぎは実に目も当てられない
有様で、離れ離れになった親と子、これも前世からの因縁でしょうか
♪親から受け継いだ家や蔵を地震のために潰されて
なんと途方に暮れることか、これも自然の天災です
♪地震の後の大津波、驚く中にまた火事が起こり
生きる気力も全く失せて、実に大きな災難です
♪先祖代々伝わってきた宝物や田畑も押し流され、どこへ
行くあてもない、早く救いの手を差し伸べてください
♪災いを被った三県は後の世まで語り継がれるでしょう
聞くのも哀れな青森と岩手、宮城の県です
♪一気に押し寄せる大津波、逃げることも立ち向かうこともできず
腹に動悸を打ち、胸はどんどんと鳴り響きます
♪聞くのも語るのも皆涙です、今度の津波による死者は
負傷者と合わせて6万余り、実に無残なことです
♪万死に一生を得て助かった漁師の運の強さ
不幸の中の幸い、これも天のお恵みです

♪The tsunami disaster in the northern regions was truly unbearable to witness
The sight of parents and children separated - this too must be karmic fate
♪The ancestral homes and storehouses inherited from our parents were destroyed by the earthquake
How utterly lost we are - this too is a natural disaster from heaven
♪After the earthquake came the great tsunami, and while we were still in shock, fires broke out
All will to live was completely lost - truly a great calamity
♪Ancestral treasures and farmlands passed down through generations were swept away
With nowhere to go, please send help quickly
♪The three prefectures that suffered this disaster will be remembered for generations to come
It is heartbreaking to hear of Aomori, Iwate, and Miyagi prefectures
♪The great tsunami surging all at once - there was no escaping or resisting it
Hearts pounding in our chests, our breasts thundering with fear
♪Both hearing and telling of it brings tears to all - the deaths from this tsunami
Combined with the injured, over 60,000 people - truly a tragic affair
♪The fishermen who escaped certain death and survived had strong fortune
Good fortune within misfortune - this too is heaven's blessing
