蕐嚴瀧（けごんのたき） 此（この）飛瀑（たき）は中禅寺湖水（ちゆうぜんじのこすゐ）より落來（おちく）る水路（すゐろ）凢（およそ）七八町 流（なが）れて瀧（たき）
口（ぐち）に至（いた）る其（その）水路（すゐろ）も又（また）一 派（ぱ）の河（かは）の如（ごと）く幅（はゞ）十 間（けん）餘（よ）或（あるひ）は七八 間（けん）の所（ところ）
もあり偖（さて）南湖（なんこ）より四五町 流（なが）れ來（きた）りて板橋（いたばし）を架（か）せり是（これ）を南岸橋（なんがんけう）
と唱（とな）ふ長（ながさ）十 間（けん）許（ばかり）この橋（はし）は歌濱（うたのはま）への通路（つうろ）なり又（また）は足尾（あしを）へ掛（かゝ）り上州（じやうしう）
筋（すぢ）より詣（まうづ）るもの足尾峠（あしをたうげ）の頂上（ちやうじやう）より岐路（きろ）を逕（すぐ）ること凢（おおよそ）二 里（り）許（ばかり）の𡸴（けん）
を凌（しのぎ）て爰（こゝ）へ來（きた）るまた本道（ほんだう）を經（へ）て中禅寺（ちゆうぜんじ）へ詣（まうづ）るものは大平（おほたひら）の道脇（みちわき）

華厳滝 この滝は中禅寺湖水より流れ落ちる水路で、およそ七八町流れて滝口に至る。その水路もまた一派の川のようで、幅十間余り、あるいは七八間の所もある。さて南湖より四五町流れ来て板橋を架けている。これを南岸橋と呼ぶ。長さ十間ばかり。この橋は歌浜への通路である。また足尾へかかり上州筋より参詣するものは、足尾峠の頂上より岐路を経ること、およそ二里ばかりの険阻を凌いでここへ来る。また本道を経て中禅寺へ参詣するものは、大平の道脇で左へ折れて行くべき平坦な小路がある。およそ五六町余りをたどり行き、この滝のほとりに至る。これは大谷川の水源である。高さ七十五丈という。この滝は東関第一の滝であり、滝口の幅二間余り、滝下は人が通う所ではない。

Kegon Falls: This waterfall flows down from Lake Chūzenji, with the waterway running approximately seven to eight chō before reaching the mouth of the falls. This waterway is also like a branch of a river, with a width of over ten ken, or in some places seven to eight ken. From Nanko (South Lake), it flows four to five chō and has a plank bridge built across it. This is called Nangan Bridge. It is about ten ken long. This bridge serves as a passage to Utahama (Song Beach). Also, for those who come via Ashio from the Jōshū region, they traverse a divergent path from the summit of Ashio Pass for approximately two ri, overcoming treacherous terrain to arrive here. Those who take the main road to visit Chūzenji Temple will find a flat path that branches left at the roadside of Ōtaira, following it for about five to six chō to reach the vicinity of this waterfall. This is the source of the Daiya River. It is said to be seventy-five jō high. This waterfall is the foremost waterfall in the Tōkan region, with the falls' mouth over two ken wide. The area below the falls is not accessible to people.
