Yesterday, the entry into the timber yard (kiya) took place, and since this was considered an auspicious occasion for the entire shrine community, Zushono-kami and Mimasaka-no-kami came to attend. An inquiry was then conveyed through Lord Iwakura Moku-no-jō (to the appropriate superior authority), whereupon a reply was received to the effect that this was indeed regarded as a most auspicious matter. Item: The last day of the month (misoka) and the first day of the following month: overcast skies. Item: The first day of the eleventh month: clear skies. Item: The second day of the same month: clear skies. Matsushita, Mori Kurannosuke, and the two zōshō went to Lord Gomi's residence and stated that the carpenter's register should be used to make the necessary entries and confirmations. The carpenters who had brought the land allocation plans (jiwari) also arrived, but they were told to return the following day and departed accordingly. Item: The third day of the same month: clear skies. In accordance with yesterday's agreement, the two zōshō, Mori and Matsushita, came forward accompanied by the carpenters, but once again the matter was not resolved, and they returned without conclusion. Item: The fourth day of the same month: clear skies. As Lord Suō was expected to make his appearance today, a morning work assembly (asa fushin) was held this morning by the entire shrine community (sōchū). Item: On the same day, there was an intention to proceed with the previously determined land allocation as it had been in former times. However, since there had been numerous errors and failures in the construction of previous shrine buildings, a gathering (yoriai) of the shrine priests (shashi) was held again today at the head priest's residence. The ujibito (hereditary shrine people) held their deliberations at the Ei-dō (memorial hall). It was decided that any views one wished to express should be submitted through the satanin (administrative official) to the assembly, and with the entire shrine community in full concord, discussions were held on all matters.
