Furthermore, there is no established protocol for moving the divine body (go-shintai) to another location, so how appropriate is it to remove the sacred treasures in such a manner? Moreover, if the divine body were never present from the beginning, there would be no need to remove the sacred treasures and yet the shrine could still be moved. In any case, one of these two situations must apply — yet the fact that procedures have been so disorderly reflects poorly on the shrine officials and clan members alike, being contrary to the way of the gods (shintō). Accordingly, those of good conscience could only frown upon this.
One entry: On the same day, the deputies (shimodai) of Lord Gomi began moving into the new temporary wooden structure (kiya). In celebration of this, the general assembly (sōchū) sent two kinds of sake barrels as a congratulatory gift. Until today, they had been making daily inspection rounds from their lodgings in Kyoto, but as this was becoming inconvenient due to the distance, they moved into the wooden structure for the first time this evening.
One entry: On the same day, a messenger arrived from the Dengso (Court Liaison) to the shrine officials and clan members, summoning them to appear the following day.
One entry: The 27th day — clear skies, followed by rain. Today, three master carpenters from Yamato — Gondayū, Tōbei, and Shin'emon — arrived and performed the adze-inauguration ceremony (chōnahajime) at the riding ground (baba). It was stated that work would proceed from the central gate (chūmon) and the middle structure, following the completion of the wooden construction.
One entry: On the same day, since the Court Liaison's messenger had come the previous night, both the Chief Priest (kannushi) and the Senior Priest (shō-negi), along with their administrative deputies (zassho), attended. They were privately informed of the selected dates for the ceremonies, and that a formal court deliberation (jin-gi) would accordingly be held. The tentative schedule was: the 16th of next month for the pillar-raising ceremony (hashiradateshiki), the 26th for the ridge-raising ceremony (mune-age), and the 9th of the 4th month for the provisional shrine transfer (karidono sengū). They were instructed to keep this information confidential for the time being — this being the directive conveyed by the Great Counselor (Dainagon). As for the formal court deliberation, it is an exceedingly auspicious matter for the Emperor as well.
