一、中根長左衛門を国元へ送る道中の乗り物は、通常の乗り物にすべきでしょうか。

一、長左衛門の刀・脇差等、家来の者の刀・脇差はどのようにすべきでしょうか。
　　御附紙
　　　長左衛門の刀・脇差は国元において返却すべきです。家来の者には道中から免除（没収）すべきです。以上。

一、道中に付き添わせる侍並びに足軽の人数はどの程度つけるべきでしょうか。

　　　物頭一人、侍二人、足軽十人を付き添わせるのが適当です。

一、箱根・今切の関所へ証文を送るべきでしょうか。
　　御附紙
　　　証文は必要ありません。

一、国元で監視のため配置する番の者はどの程度置くべきでしょうか。

　　　どこでも適当に警備の良い場所に配置すべきです。番所は一か所、足軽のみを配置するのが適当です。

一、配置した屋敷の内では自由にさせてよいでしょうか。また家来の者で用事がある時は門外に出してよいでしょうか。

Memorandum of inquiry regarding the custody of Nakanae Chōzaemon, retainer of Matsudaira Echigo-no-kami, under Matsudaira Echizen-no-kami

1. Regarding the palanquin for transporting Nakanae Chōzaemon to his home domain during the journey, should we use an ordinary palanquin?
　　Official response:
　　　Use whatever seems appropriate.

1. How should we handle Chōzaemon's swords and short swords, as well as those of his retainers?
　　Official response:
　　　Chōzaemon's swords and short swords should be returned to him in his home domain. His retainers should be relieved of theirs from the journey onward. That is all.

1. How many samurai and foot soldiers should be assigned to accompany him during the journey?
　　Official response:
　　　It would be appropriate to assign one captain (monogashira), two samurai, and ten foot soldiers as escorts.

1. Should official documents be sent to the Hakone and Imakiri checkpoints?
　　Official response:
　　　No documents are necessary.

1. How many guards should be stationed for surveillance in his home domain?
　　Official response:
　　　Guard posts should be established wherever appropriate with good security. One guard post with only foot soldiers stationed would be appropriate.

1. Should he be allowed freedom within the assigned residence, and may his retainers be permitted to go outside the gate when they have business?
