旧記ニ叶様ニ仕度トノ願望之処ニ伝受之一札ヲモ
セラレ又上ハ最早森家ト破滅之至先ハ権祢宜
而権社之宣旨使参向之時モ日時ノ宣旨不請取
又假迁宮之時モ内陣之儀万事可司儀ナルニ
神主ニサハカセ無念至極無限心トソ又神主
保可心ハ自保矩一流ノ伝受モアリ御神宝
以下大形知タル上ハ必一札可仕様無之其上
札社程ナラハ礼銭銀壱枚計ナラテハ可見苦候
是偏ニ不入費也兎角物語ニ万事聞度

現代語訳
（前頁からの続き）旧記に叶うようにしたいとの願望があったところ、伝授の一札もなされた上は、最早森家との関係は破滅に至った。まず、権祢宜として権社の宣旨使が参向する際も、日時の宣旨を受け取らず、また仮遷宮の際も、内陣の儀式万事を司るべきであるのに、神主に妨げられ、無念この上なく、無限の恨みを抱いているとのことである。また、神主（保可）の心中としては、保矩以来一流の伝授もあり、御神宝以下のことを大方は知っている上は、必ず一札を仕るべき道理はない。その上、（伝授の）一札ほどのものであれば、礼銭として銀一枚程度でなければ（それ以上を求めるのは）見苦しいことである。
これはひとえに不必要な費えである。とにかく物語として万事を聞きたいと思って過ごしてきたところ、思いの外の腹立ちと違反となってしまった。笑止の至り、筆に尽くし難い。
五日 晴れ、今暁に夕立あり。
六日 （私が）当番。氏徳が言うには、森家の維久の記録は、檀紙に黄檗（歟）を引いており、虫が少しも指さず（虫食いがなく）、大方は片仮名で書かれている。その内容は概ね書かれており、一々図のある箇所もあり、張り紙の下に悉く、また右の書き立てに合点の一、（印が）入るようにしてある。

(Continued from the previous page) There was a desire to arrange things in accordance with the old records, and once the certificate of transmission (一札) had been issued, the relationship with the Mori family was already beyond repair. First, even when the messenger bearing the imperial proclamation (宣旨使) for the provisional shrine (権社) came during the tenure as Provisional Negi (権祢宜), the daily schedule proclamation (日時の宣旨) was not received. Moreover, during the provisional shrine transfer ceremony (仮遷宮), although all matters of the inner sanctum (内陣) rites were supposed to be under their administration, they were obstructed by the head priest (神主), causing immeasurable frustration and resentment, so it is said. Furthermore, as for the head priest's own thinking: since there had already been a transmission of traditions (伝授) in the line since Yasunori (保矩), and given that the sacred treasures and other matters were largely known, there was no reason to formally issue a certificate. Moreover, if it were merely a matter of such a certificate, anything beyond one silver coin as a courtesy fee would be unseemly.
This is entirely an unnecessary expense. In any case, I had been passing time thinking I wished to hear all matters as they unfolded, but it has turned into an unexpected quarrel and breach (of relations). It is a truly absurd situation, and difficult to put into words.
The 5th day: Clear; a summer shower fell before dawn.
The 6th day: I was on duty. Ujinori said that the records of Morinaga (維久) of the Mori family were written on dandoshi (high-quality paper) with yellow dye (黄檗歟) applied; there is virtually no worm damage, and most of it is written in katakana. The contents are largely written out, with diagrams in certain places, and beneath the pasted-over sections, everything is annotated, with marks of acknowledgment (合点) inserted to correspond with the written entries on the right.
[In red ink] Kiyoshige states: It is not that yellow dye (黄檗) was applied to the dandoshi; rather, it is simply paper that was yellow in color for that era. Also, it is not katakana but regular kana (hiragana).
