Following the completion of the Kataoka Shrine relocation (sengū), there are (ceremonies at) the Jingūji and Shōjinja temple complexes (chindera), and then the relocations of the two shrines. Today, the officials responsible for the inspection (nairan) and accounting (kanjō) gave notice that they were too occupied (to attend), and so the matter was postponed (enin). Thereupon, both senior and junior (officials) gathered and inquired (of their superiors) as to whether they might be pardoned for the postponement. The 28th Day: The formal relocation (shō-sengū) of the Shingū Shrine at the Hour of the Dog (approximately 7–9 p.m.). The formal relocation of the Wakamiya Shrine. The formal relocation of the Sawada Shrine—the formal relocations of these three shrines (are recorded here). At the Shingū Shrine, the head priest (kannagi) is seated facing west. The protocol is as follows: The decoration of the inner sanctuary (naijin) during the daytime today is in the same manner as at the Kataoka Shrine. Upon nightfall, when the shrine officials (shasō) proceed to their duties, sandal-bearers (kutsumo-chi), umbrella-bearers (kasamo-chi), white-robed attendants (hakuchō), and shrine servants (jinin) carrying torches (taimatsu) take their seats first. Then Norichisa (軌久), the younger brother of Wakushiro (和久代) who serves as the hafuri (祝, ritual celebrant), rises from his seat and opens the doors of the main sanctuary (honden). Next, the doors of the temporary shrine (karidono) are opened, and the sacred path (kamiji) from the temporary shrine to the main sanctuary is ritually purified (kiyoharae). Next, the master carpenter (shō-daiku) performs a purification (kiyoharae). Then the inner and outer sanctuaries are purified. Next, the negi (senior priest) and Norinao (宣直) rise from their seats and conduct the transfer of the divine spirit. Everyone prostrates themselves while the fire is lit. Next, the hafuri takes the sacred sword (tachi) from the inner sanctuary of the temporary shrine and places it in the main sanctuary. Then, returning to the (temporary shrine), (they continue) their ritual seclusion (sanrō) from the temporary shrine.
