Regarding Lord Senjirō's attendance at the New Year's castle audience, an inquiry was made through the domain's Edo caretaker (rusuī) to the duty Senior Councillor Mizuno Izumi-no-Kami (Tadayuki), and a reply was received indicating that this would not be necessary.
Item: On the 28th day of the same month, (the lord) attended the castle. (Note: A written notice bearing the joint signatures of the Senior Councillors had arrived the previous day, the 27th.) The lord expressed his gratitude for his appointment as Chamberlain (Jijū), and presented a sword, a sum of gold in lieu of a horse, and ten robes (kosode).
