社家中で了承の上、お供として召し連れていただけるようお頼み申された。また、有栖川様も同様に、右馬権頭についても同じく了承してお供に加えるようにとお頼み申された。
社法がある件を御伝奏が強いて申すことではないが、右の方々のご命令であるため申し入れるものであり、この旨を社家中で相談の上、何卒ご命令の通りに了承いただければ、とのお頼みであった。
評議が重ねられ、貴命ではあるが、何卒将来の先例とならないよう、今回はご了承いただきたい旨の評議のご意向があった。しかし、以前より「日数（にっすう）」の件で争論があり、これにより一社の置文・式法があり、すでに日数の期間中に関東へ下向された方は、掟の通り往来の次座へ降格となった先例がある。これらの事情を踏まえると、その場で即座に決定することは難しい。さらに翌夕、当該両名を招いて、各々が集まって評議を行うべきとのことで、各自退出した。

The request was made to this party that the person in question be approved within the shrine community and allowed to accompany [the procession] as an attendant. Likewise, His Highness Arisugawa made an identical request regarding the Umagonokami (Right Equerry), asking that he too be approved and included as an attendant.
Although it is not the place of the Imperial Liaison (Dendō) to forcibly request something that is subject to shrine law, since the request comes from the aforementioned distinguished persons, it is being conveyed. [The Dendō] asked that this matter be discussed among the shrine community and, if possible, that approval be granted in accordance with the request.
After considerable deliberation, the assessment was that, while this was an august command, it was desirable that approval be given this time in such a way as not to set a precedent for the future. However, there had been long-standing disputes regarding the "nissū" (the period of ritual abstinence/days of observance), and as a result there existed written regulations and formal procedures for the whole shrine. Indeed, there was already a precedent whereby those who had traveled to the Kantō region during the period of "nissū" were demoted to the next lower seat in the procession order, in accordance with the regulations. Given all these circumstances, it was impossible to reach an immediate decision on the spot. It was decided that the two persons in question would be invited the following evening, and all would gather for further deliberation. The attendees then withdrew.

Furthermore, regarding the matter of Minbu-no-shōjō (Junior Assistant Minister of Civil Affairs) and Umagonokami and their "nissū" matter, which was conveyed by the general representative yesterday, it was hoped to reach a resolution based on the results of the deliberation, and another assembly was to be convened this evening for discussion. Regarding the "nissū" matter, as [the Imperial Liaison] himself was aware, the shrine law applied and the matter was complicated in various ways — this was conveyed as far as Nakatsukasa, who reportedly then reported it to the Right Middle Counselor. As for the "Sōjihajime" (the auspicious beginning of court business), it was received with felicitations.
