Since it has been stated that consultation before the lord of Kii's departure for the Kantō region would be difficult, it would not be appropriate to press the matter further. Moreover, since there is no strict obligation to carry out the transfer before the festival, it was unanimously decided that it would be best to postpone the matter for now. Accordingly, it was decided that tomorrow, following the instructions of the general representatives (sōdai), Tominō Sanmi would continue to serve at the current festival, and a formal refusal would be presented in person. Furthermore, notice of this should be sent to the Imperial Liaison (Gidensō).
8th Day
One entry: The Kōrikyū group fortunately appeared in person at the Nijō Magistrate's Office and before the Imperial Liaison.
Details are as recorded previously.
2nd Day of the 4th Month
[Written in red ink] Concerning the Kawakamigō Villagers, the Haikai-hana Shinjō (festival flower ritual land) matter.
One entry: A formal written petition (kōjōgaki) was submitted by the peasants of Kawakami Village. It states that there had been land designated as Haikai-hana Shinjō (ritual land for the "wandering flower" festival ceremony), but since the cadastral survey conducted by Ai Settsu-no-kami, this land has been lost from the records. Of the land that had been in Kamo domain, after Jirōzaemon, a shrine attendant (jinin), was dismissed in a previous year, Jirōzaemon sold it to Genbanoske, and now there is no ritual land whatsoever, causing great hardship. Therefore, they petition that this land be requested by the shrine (ichi-sha) and granted as Haikai-hana Shinjō land. Furthermore, since the written document (origami) received from the shrine on the day in question is merely a formality, they wish to formally receive it per the official inventory (gomokuroku) and use it for the celebration of the ritual.
Evaluation: It is said that this matter cannot be granted, etc.
27th Day
One entry: A petition from the associates (nakama) and servants (komono). Regarding the two days of the horse-racing festival (kurabeuma), [they petition about] receiving the area to the west of the First Torii gate… [continues on next page]
