一此間／河登（コノホリ）山西百姓共持山之道畑村ゟ作立往還之様
ニ仕候ニ付賀茂ゟも手伝人足出候様ニ申越候ニ付山庄や
申候者此道ト申候者賀茂山人之道ニ而御座候ヲ右之
通ニ作立往還ニ仕候へ者賀茂百姓共迷惑仕候間
無用ニ可仕旨之断可申候尤四町百姓共相談可

一、この頃、河登山の西の百姓共が持ち山の道を、畑村より作り立てて往還道のようにしようとしているにつき、賀茂よりも手伝いの人足を出すよう申し越してきた。これに対して山庄屋が申すには、この道というのは賀茂山人の道であるところを、右のように作り立てて往還道にするならば、賀茂百姓共が迷惑をこうむることになるので、無用にすべき旨の断りを申すべきである。もっとも四町の百姓共と相談すべきではあるが、同心する（同意する）ことは到底難しい旨を申し、すぐに相談のうえ断りを申し遣わしたところ、今日また畑より申し越してきたのは、賀茂山人の道であるにつき、手伝いの義（こと）を申し遣わしたところ、無用にすべしとの返答が不―

[Written in red ink] Concerning the Jūsan-koku Mountain — Matter to be handled within the shrine community (shachū)
One entry: Recently, peasants of the western side of Kawanobori Mountain have been working on a path through their own mountain holdings, with the intention of making it into a public thoroughfare extending from Hatake Village. They sent word requesting that Kamigamo also contribute laborers (ninsoku) to assist. The mountain village headman stated that this path is a road belonging to the Kamigamo mountain people (yamato), and that if it were developed into a public thoroughfare as described, it would cause inconvenience to the Kamigamo peasants; therefore, a refusal should be conveyed stating that this should not be done. While it would have been proper to consult with the peasants of the four villages (shi-chō), it was stated that obtaining their agreement would be exceedingly difficult, and after consultation, a refusal was promptly sent. However, today word came again from Hatake Village, saying that since this is the road of the Kamigamo mountain people, the request for assistance had been sent, but the reply that it should not be done was [unacceptable / unsatisfactory — text continues on next page]
