One: Third Day of the Twelfth Month, Genroku 16 (1703)
Regarding the assembly (寄合) held in connection with the shrine representatives' appearance before the Imperial Court Liaison (御伝奏), the representatives reported the following:
"On this occasion, the sequential transfer (次第転任) up to and including the position of Gon-hafuri (provisional officiating priest) has been ordered, and it was conveyed that a small folded paper (小折紙, formal acknowledgment document) should be submitted. Furthermore, the matter should be reported by: Chikyu (Gon-hafuri), the Kataoka Negi (祢宜, senior priest), Matsushita Minbu, the Kifune Negi, and Hayashi Miyauchi Gonno-Taifu Shigemoto. Accordingly, regarding the above, an inquiry was made as to whether the one-shrine community should send a small folded paper from Shigemoto to the Kifune Negi. The response received was that the matter would be entirely as directed by the one-shrine community. Based on this response, it was decided that a small folded paper would be composed and submitted. On the same day, the small folded paper was brought in person, and the gist of the matter was reported to the Nijō Magistrate's Office As the officials were said to be returning home late in the evening, the document was delivered on the fourth day."
One: Regarding the position of Gon-hafuri (provisional officiating priest) at our shrine, as ordered last year — today, an order for the sequential transfer to the position of Gon-hafuri was issued by the Court Liaison. We hereby submit this notification. Respectfully.

The above is the account of how things transpired, and the written statement (口上書) was completed accordingly.
[This is] an oral statement (口状) submitted in response to official questioning (高問).
One: On the third day of the twelfth month of Genroku 16 (1703), the Kamo Imperial Court Liaison, Lord Hiramatsu Chūnagon, issued instructions that the shrine representatives should appear. Accordingly, Okamoto Miyauchi and Okamoto Genba duly appeared. They were informed that the dispute (出入り) over the vacant position (闕職) of Gon-hafuri had been resolved, and that the sequential transfer up to the position of Gon-hafuri had now been ordered. The shrine community was to acknowledge this and submit a small folded paper (小折紙).
