一 同日、右同断につき、本多孫太郎(長員)をはじめ家老へお手紙をお書きになった。 一 十二月二十一日、老中・戸田山城守(忠真)殿・土屋相模守(政直)殿へ御勤めになった。 一 同日、歳暮のご祝儀として御使者をもって例の通り御小袖を献上された。一位様・月光院様へは白銀を差し上げられた。 一 同日、御用番・松平紀伊守(信庸)殿よりお呼び出しがあり、御留守居が罷り出たところ、御任官のお礼を申し上げる際の献上物の件について、去る十九日にご伺いになった通りに差し上げるようにとのご指図があった。    但し、十九日に差し出したご伺い書は御記録類には見当たらない。 一 十二月二十二日、老中・阿部豊後守(正喬)殿へお目にかかりご挨拶を申し上げられた。 一 十二月二十三日、老中・久世大和守(重之)殿へ右同断のご挨拶を申し上げられた。 一 同日、御用番・松平紀伊守(信庸)殿へ御留守居・村上三大夫(正峯)が罷り出て、御任官お礼の際の献上物のご準備が整った旨を申し達した。 一 十二月二十五日、切支丹類族・田代養元の妹(大岡源右衛門殿の奥方)が病死したため、切支丹奉行・横田備中守(由松)殿・柳沢備後守(信尹)殿へ御証文を差し出された。 一 十二月二十七日、寒中につき御使者をもって例の通り御国産(二番)の生鱈を献上された。 一 十二月二十八日(五ツ時前)、御長袴を御着用の上、登城され、御任官のお礼を申し上げられた。(昨二十七日、御用番・松平紀伊守殿より連名の御切紙が届く。)御太刀・金馬代・御時服十領を献上され、一位様・月光院様へは銀二十枚ずつを差し上げられた(去る二十一日ご伺い済み)。御退出の際にお礼のため――

One entry: On the same day, in connection with the above, a letter was written and sent to Honda Magonotarō (Nagakazu) and the senior retainers (karō). One entry: On the 21st day of the 12th month, his lordship paid his respects to Senior Councilor Toda Yamashiro-no-kami (Tadamasa) and Tsuchiya Sagami-no-kami (Masanao). One entry: On the same day, as a year-end greeting (seibo), a messenger was dispatched to present the customary kosode (garment), as was the tradition. To Ichii-sama and Gakkōin-sama, silver was presented. One entry: On the same day, upon being summoned by the duty Senior Councilor Matsudaira Kii-no-kami (Nobuyasu), the Rusuiyaku (caretaker official) attended and received instructions that the offerings for the formal expression of gratitude for the official appointment should be presented in the manner that had been inquired about on the 19th of this month.    Note: The inquiry document submitted on the 19th is not found among the official records. One entry: On the 22nd day of the 12th month, his lordship had an audience with and paid respects to Senior Councilor Abe Bungo-no-kami (Masataka). One entry: On the same day, the Rusuiyaku Murakami Sandayū (Masamine) attended upon the duty Senior Councilor Matsudaira Kii-no-kami (Nobuyasu) and conveyed that preparations for the offerings at the ceremony of gratitude for the official appointment had been completed. One entry: On the 25th day of the 12th month, Tashiro Yōgen's younger sister (the wife of Ōoka Gonuemon), a member of a family registered as related to Christians (Kirishitan ruizoku), died of illness. Accordingly, a formal certificate (shōmon) was submitted to the Kirishitan Bugyō (Magistrates for Christian Affairs), Yokota Bichū-no-kami (Yoshimatsu) and Yanagisawa Bingo-no-kami (Nobukiyo). One entry: On the 27th day of the 12th month, as it was the cold season (kanchū), a messenger was dispatched to present fresh cod (namatara), a local specialty (second grade), as was customary. One entry: On the 28th day of the 12th month (before the Hour of the Rooster, approximately before 6 a.m.), his lordship went to Edo Castle wearing formal long hakama (nagabakama) and presented his formal thanks for his official appointment. (On the preceding 27th day, a written notice bearing multiple signatories [kirigami] arrived from the duty Senior Councilor Matsudaira Kii-no-kami.) A ceremonial sword (tachi), a monetary gift in lieu of a horse (kin-badai), and ten sets of formal garments (tokifu) were presented as offerings.
