（前頁からの続き）改めなどのことは厳密にお沙汰があるべきである。すべて酒造の法を違反した者は罪科に処せられるべき次第は、歴代のご先例に従い、そのお沙汰があるべきものである。

Item: On the 25th day of the tenth month, regarding the presentation of congratulatory gifts for the Chrysanthemum Festival (Chōyō), an inner letter (o-naibumi) was delivered at the castle, and the gifts bestowed upon retainers were as per established custom.
In celebration of the Chrysanthemum Festival,
five kosode robes have arrived; we are most pleased.

Note: As the inner letters (o-naibumi) regarding subsequent such congratulatory presentations follow the same form, they will not be recorded hereafter.
Item: On the first day of the eleventh month, sumo wrestling was ordered to be held at the Kawabata teahouse. From the senior retainers (kōchi) downward — including the ban-gashira (guard commanders), yoriai-bangai (irregular attendants), shomotsu-gashira (various unit heads), o-tsukaiban (messengers/inspectors), as well as their children and the official domain physicians — all were commanded to attend as spectators.
Item: On the fourth day of the eleventh month, in order to inquire about the timing of the upcoming sankin (alternate attendance) journey in the coming Year of the Monkey, a messenger — Ōtani [name] — was dispatched (to Edo).
