英語訳

1. North Fumei Gate: Closed (locked); Castle Magistrate in charge; second floor, two entrances; seals affixed by Gunpowder Magistrate Keys: same as above; storing large rope (under Gunpowder Magistrate) and old timber (under Construction Official) Note: From Bunsei 13, year of the tiger (1830), during residence in the main keep, guard duty at North Fumei Gate commenced, carried out by Castle Magistrate's group. 1. Corridor Bridge Gate: Regular guard duty by Castle Magistrate's group; second floor, one entrance; Construction Official in charge (storing temporary pillars for main keep, archery range equipment, etc.) Keys: same as above 1. Seven-Man Guardhouse Gate: Closed (locked); Castle Magistrate in charge; second floor, three entrances; northwest under Flower Garden Magistrate in charge, east under Construction Official in charge Keys: under Inner Treasury Official; master key shared with Former Tama Storage Front Gate (Note: In former times, the Mochi-gumi [guard unit] on duty performed this service. From the middle period onward, during the lord's presence and during his absence, the gate guard duty was reassigned so that guards only appeared for morning and evening attendance inspections, and regular watch duty was no longer performed.) 1. Former Tama Storage Front Gate: Same as above Keys: under Senior Guard Unit Commander; master key shared with Seven-Man Guardhouse Gate [Red ink] Recorded on the 14th day of the 2nd month, Shōtoku 2, year of the dragon (1712) Note: According to old records, the key to the North Fumei Gate is held by the Castle Magistrate (Honda Jirōtayū), and the key to the Seven-Man Guardhouse Gate is held by the Treasury Official. These two gates share a master key. From former times, when the gate was needed for matters in the lord's presence, the Treasury Official would open it for cleaning and snow removal; for other official matters, the Castle Magistrate would open it. Jirōtayū requested that this arrangement be brought to the lord's attention. On this day, Tsutsumi Yasuzaemon [subsequent text struck through in red, up to "during the reign of Shōan-in"] — during the reign of Shōan-in — when this was brought to the lord's attention, the order was given to proceed as before, and accordingly the following day this was communicated to Jirōtayū at the main keep. 1. Water Mill Gate: Open (unoccupied) 1. From Bunsei 13, year of the tiger (1830), during residence in the main keep, a guardhouse was established at the Water Mill Gate; during the lord's presence in the domain, under Castle Magistrate; during lord's absence, under Chief Retainer. On the 29th day of the 4th month of Tenpō 14, year of the rabbit (1843), as the quarters had been relocated, the guardhouse became unnecessary, was dismantled, and the lock and key were transferred to the Castle Magistrate. 1. Ninomaru Boundary Gate: Open (unoccupied) 1. Yamazato Inner Gate: Guard duty (during lord's presence: Senior Guard unit; during lord's absence:留守組 [Garrison unit]) One person during the day, one person at night Keys: under Garrison Unit Commander 1. Yamazato Entrance Gate: Same Senior Guard unit; one person during the day, one person at night Keys: under Senior Guard Unit Commander Note: The Yamazato Gate previously had one guard day and night, but from Kyōhō 15, year of the dog (1730), it was set at one person during the day and two at night, with four persons assigned in rotation. Additionally, two gates at Sannomaru and Shimizu Gate follow the same arrangement. 1. Middle Partition Gate: Also called the Small Gate beside the Stables; same Mochi-gumi [guard unit] Keys: under Mochi-gumi Commander; four persons during lord's presence, two during lord's absence 1. Main Keep Kitchen Entrance Gate: Closed (locked); Castle Magistrate in charge 1. Middle Entrance Gate of the same location: Same as above 1. Quarters Gate: Regular guard duty by Mochi-gumi [guard unit] Keys: under Chief Retainer; eight persons during lord's presence, six during lord's absence Note: From Bunsei 13, year of the tiger (1830), during residence in the main keep, this is referred to as the "Former Quarters Gate," and the former attendant foot soldiers perform guard duty. Under temporary charge of the head attendant to Lord Kengoro. [Red ink] Check mark
