（前ページより続く）…哀れにも潰れているものがあった。また往来へ舟が吹き上げられたさまは、汀（みぎわ）に吹き寄せられる落ち葉のようであった。また海岸沿いでは、本牧から羽田あたりにかけて、繋ぎ置いてあった舟は行方不明となり、見知らぬ船が流れ着いた。そのために漁師の小屋が押し倒されたものも多かったようである。その中には、江戸にあった御乗船場の歩行舟が羽田に流れ着いたとのことで、これは高潮が引く時に持ち去ったものであろう。
◯川崎より六郷の渡し場もまた出水が甚だしく、いずれも難儀に及んだ。東川端・八幡塚・雑色町・小南・蒲田・大森村・鈴ヶ森・浜川あたりでは、あの高潮を津波と心得て、水の中をようやくのことで山手へ逃げた者もあった。逃げ遅れた者は逃げる間もなく屋根へ登った者もあり、その騒ぎはただごとではなかった。夜が明けた後に、屋根や垣の破損に当惑した者もあった。

ようやく尋ね得たものもあれば、大切な客帳などを失って困るものもあった。また御台場の前後左右に掛け並べてあった官船・商船の大小いずれもが吹き寄せられてきて、これらを元の深みへ出すのに多くの日数がかかったとのことである。中でも、今度新造された異国形の大船は破損は見られなかったものの、浅瀬へ吹き寄せられ、このために打ち砕かれる舟も少なくなかったとのことである。

Along the coast from Honmoku to the Haneda area, boats that had been moored disappeared, while unknown vessels came drifting in. Many of the fishermen's small huts were consequently knocked down. Among these, it is reported that a walking-boat (*ayumi-bune*) from the shogunal embarkation dock in Edo drifted ashore at Haneda—this must have been carried off when the storm surge receded.
◯From Kawasaki to the Rokugō ferry crossing, the flooding was likewise severe, and all suffered great hardship. Furthermore, the official vessels and merchant ships of all sizes that had been moored in rows fore and aft of the Odaiba were blown together in a mass, and it took many days to move them back out into deep water. Among them, a newly built large ship of foreign design showed no visible damage, yet having been blown onto the shallows, it caused no small number of other boats to be smashed against it.
◯A person of my acquaintance employs many craftsmen, and so had home-pickled daikon radish stored—more than ten barrels' worth as provisions through to year's end—only to have all of it swept away by the storm surge. Gathering up what could be found around the house, they managed to collect about two barrels' worth, and laughed while telling the tale.
◯Takanawa Ushi-machi sits on low-lying ground and is close to the sea; when the storm surge rose to floor level, the owners were alarmed and called out to release the many cattle they kept from their stalls and let them flee.
