○鹿児島県下下越、キジマテウチムラより青瀬村中浜村
　辺コレラ病流行し其病勢凡そ三時間を経て死する者
　四十余人に至り病者数知れざる旨警視分署より報知
　あるに付速に臨病院より医員を差向けたれども相成
　ベくは至急に治療法及び予防法等心得し医師派出の
　御都合取計ひを願ふ尚追て病の性質は委細申上べく
　との趣を同県令より電報にて其筋へ伺ひに成りしと

虎列刺病（コレラ病）予防心得

　　鹿児島県より電報《明治十年八月二十五日》
○鹿児島県下の下越、キジマテウチ村より青瀬村、中浜村
　辺りでコレラ病が流行し、その病気の勢いは凡そ三時間を
　経て死亡する者が四十余人に達し、患者数は計り知れない
　旨を警視分署より報告があったため、速やかに臨時病院より
　医員を派遣したが、できれば至急に治療法及び予防法等を
　心得した医師の派遣の都合を取り計らっていただきたい。
　なお、追って病気の性質については詳細に申し上げる
　という趣旨を同県知事より電報にてその筋へ伺いとなった
　とのこと。

　　Telegram from Kagoshima Prefecture《August 25, Meiji 10 (1877)》
○A cholera epidemic has broken out in the areas of Shimokoshi, Kijimateuuchi Village, Aose Village, and Nakahama Village in Kagoshima Prefecture. The disease progresses so rapidly that over forty people have died within approximately three hours of onset, and the number of patients is incalculable. Upon receiving this report from the police substation, medical personnel were immediately dispatched from the temporary hospital. However, we urgently request arrangements for the dispatch of physicians well-versed in treatment and prevention methods. The prefectural governor has sent an official inquiry by telegram to the appropriate authorities, stating that detailed information about the nature of the disease will be provided in due course.
