巻丹（けんたん・おにゆり）『本草綱目百合正誤』
春に古い球根（ひねた球根）から苗が生える。その球根は重なり合って白色をしている。夏秋の頃に至って、茎の先端で枝分かれして六弁の花を開く。赤黄色で紫色の斑点がある。すべて反り返って垂れ下がる。夏中に葉の間に小さな球根を発生させる。紫黒色で、形はおよそ根の球根に似ている。ひどく痩せた時はその花は生じず、ただ葉の間の小球根のみとなる。古い球根は秋に二つの球根に分かれる。似ている植物が一、二種あり、左に挙げる。

半夏（からすびしゃく）『本草綱目』
春に園内の各所に自生する。茎の先端に三葉をつける。およそ野茨やまこものような葉に似ている。茎上の三葉の根元に小さな球根を発生させる。茎中にも生じる。花は別に生じ、茎の先端に開く。天南星（やまごんやく）の花に似ている。

むかごにんじん（漢名：詳細不明）
春に生える。初生時は三葉で、やがて長じて五葉を生じ、三、四尺に及ぶ。茎頂に細小な白花を開く。葉の間にむかごのような小さな球根を生じる。

秋海棠『秘伝夜鏡和漢通名』
春に生える。茎葉ともに柔軟である。秋に二弁が長く二弁が小さい薄紅色の花を開き、莢を結び、別に葉の間に子を生じる。

たまふき（漢名：詳細不明）
春に生える。葉は款冬葉（ふきの葉）に似て小さく、秋に茎の先端に白花を開いて穂をなし、葉の間に子を生じる。この他は省略する。

本草綱目百合正誤に云う。時珍曰く、茎葉は山丹に似て高く、紅花は黄を帯びて四方に垂れ、上に黒い斑点がある。その子がまず枝葉の間にあるものが巻丹である。

Tiger Lily (Kentan/Oniyuri) "Bencao Gangmu Lily Corrections"
In spring, seedlings grow from old bulbs (aged bulbs). These bulbs overlap each other and are white in color. By summer and autumn, the stem branches at the tip and opens six-petaled flowers. They are reddish-yellow with purple spots. All curve backward and hang downward. In midsummer, small bulbs develop between the leaves. They are purplish-black in color, and their shape roughly resembles the root bulbs. When severely weakened, the plant produces no flowers, only the small bulbs between the leaves. The old bulbs divide into two bulbs in autumn. There are one or two similar species, listed on the left.

Pinellia (Karasubishaku) "Bencao Gangmu"
In spring, it grows wild in various places in gardens. It produces three leaves at the stem tip. The leaves roughly resemble those of wild rose or water oats. It produces small bulbs at the base of the three leaves on the stem. They also grow in the middle of the stem. The flowers grow separately and bloom at the stem tip. They resemble the flowers of Arisaema (yamagonyaku).

Bulbil Ginseng (Chinese name: details unknown)
It grows in spring. Initially it has three leaves, gradually lengthening to produce five leaves, reaching three to four shaku in height. It opens small white flowers at the stem top. It produces small bulbs like bulbils between the leaves.

Autumn Begonia "Secret Mirror of Japanese and Chinese Names"
It grows in spring. Both stem and leaves are soft. In autumn, it opens pale pink flowers with two long petals and two small petals, forms pods, and separately produces seeds between the leaves.

Tamafuki (Chinese name: details unknown)
It grows in spring. The leaves resemble coltsfoot leaves but smaller. In autumn, it opens white flowers at the stem tip forming spikes, and produces seeds between the leaves. The rest is omitted.

The Bencao Gangmu Lily Corrections states: Shizhen said, "The stems and leaves resemble those of mountain lily but are taller, the red flowers have yellow tinge and hang in four directions, with black spots above. Those that first have offspring between the branches and leaves are tiger lilies."
