South
Map of the Ancient Castle of Suemori, Hakui District, Noto Province
[Seal] The northern mark — it is believed there was formerly a road here, or that a pathway should exist.
Valley
This ridge-tip is long.
West
Main gate approach (Ōte-guchi) — the ridge continues with a long tip toward Imahama; below this, traces of a town gate (machi-guchi) remain.
Although this location is said to be the site of a turret gate (yagura-mon), it appears to have been a warriors' gathering place (musha-tamari). Regardless of how the enclosures (kuruwa) were connected, it seems that in later ages the structure collapsed and came to resemble a cut-through passage. It is most likely that what appears to be a breach in the enclosures continuing from the gate site should be understood as a single place of collapse.
Valley
In this direction, there are many ridgelines, but each is short and steep. The same applies to the front and rear.
Valley
This ridge-tip has various features and is long.
This ridgeline continues to the rear gate (karamete) and leads to a slope toward Miyanami; it is longer and steeper than the main approach. In general, apart from the ridges where the main approach and enclosures are located, there are no long ridges.
North
East
The ridgeline and peak trail continue toward Mt. Atago. However, the elevation gradually decreases.
This hill has tall forest growth and is at approximately the same elevation as the main bailey (hon-maru).
The valley between here is called Kurotani (Black Valley).
In this direction there are many ridgelines, but all are short; the ridge-tip extending toward Mt. Atago is long.
