**雉（キジ・キヽス）**
雉は遠くへ飛ぶことができず、自分が住む山から他の山へは行かない。これは他の鳥とは異なる点である。
漢の呂后の名が「雉」であったため、それを忌避して、
雉を「野鶏」と呼ぶようになった。

**Pheasant (Kiji / Kigisu)**
The pheasant cannot fly far, and does not travel from the mountain where it dwells to other mountains — a trait that distinguishes it from other birds.
Because the personal name of Empress Lü of the Han dynasty was "Zhi" (雉, pheasant), the word was avoided as a taboo,
and the pheasant came to be called "Yějī" (野鶏, wild chicken) instead.
