現代語訳
【シマハギ】
この縞ハギを巾着魚とも言い、またビロウド魚とも言う。皮の表面は天鵞絨（ビロード）のようで、また毛織物のようである。
丹洲が言うには：
島鯛、またシマカワハギ、ビロウド魚。鱗がない。
撫でると毛布のビロードのようである。そのためこの名前がある。また巾着魚の名前もある。青色の数条が
美しい。死ぬと黒く変色する。
【キョウケンハカマ】
巾着魚は伊勢地方の方言である。
またビロウド魚と言うが、どこの
方言であるかは分からない。古い和名は
縞カワハギである。
この魚は形や色が様々で
一様ではない。
胴が詰まって全身が
黄がかった茶色で
黒い縞と青色のものが
ある。

【Shimahagi (Striped Filefish)】
This striped filefish is also called kinchaku-uo (pouch fish) and also birōdo-uo (velvet fish). The surface of the skin is like velvet, and also like woolen fabric.
Tanshu says:
Island sea bream, also shimakawahagi, velvet fish. Has no scales.
When touched, it feels like velvet blanket. Therefore it has this name. It also has the name kinchaku fish. The several blue stripes are
beautiful. When it dies, it turns black.
【Kyōkenhakama】
Kinchaku fish is a dialect from the Ise region.
It is also called birōdo fish, but it is unknown
from which region this dialect comes. The old Japanese name is
shimakawahagi.
This fish has various shapes and colors
and is not uniform.
The body is compact and the entire body is
yellowish brown with
black stripes and blue coloring.
