現代語訳
申し上げた通り、願書を三度までお差し上げましたが、いずれもご沙汰が難しいとのことで、様々にお頼み申し上げております。また、五左衛門様にも度々ご内談申し上げ、その他の重役様方へもご内意をお願い申し上げましたところ、至極ご理解いただき、ご沙汰の向きをおっしゃっていただけるご様子でございました。しかしながら、あれこれしているうちに年末になってしまい、御収納の取りまとめもできず、何かと日延べとなりまして、どうしても年内にご沙汰をお済ませいただくことが難しく、やむを得ず正月十六日以降、最初にご決済いただき次第、それぞれご沙汰の上、お済み口（解決の有無）をご通知いただけるとのご内意でございます。ついては、五左衛門様には、その頃まで御逗留いただくようご相談申し上げました。

As I have previously stated, we have submitted the petition up to three times, but each time we have been informed that a decision is difficult to render, and we have made various entreaties. We have also repeatedly consulted with Gozaemon-sama in private, and further petitioned other senior officials for their informal consideration. They appeared to be quite understanding and seemed inclined to issue a ruling. However, as time passed and year's end arrived, the collection of revenues (御収納) could not be completed, and the matter was repeatedly postponed. As it proved impossible to obtain a decision before the end of the year, it has been informally communicated to us that, unavoidably, from the 16th day of the New Year onward, a resolution will be issued as soon as the initial settlement is made, and we will be notified accordingly as to whether the matter has been concluded. In connection with this, we have consulted with Gozaemon-sama regarding his remaining in lodgings until around that time.
