損失老若男女の死亡は大方ならず一々これを記すに尽ず翌三日夕刻迄

現代語訳
損失や老若男女の死亡は非常に多く、一つ一つこれを記録するには尽くしきれない。翌三日の夕刻まで火災が続き、ようやく火が鎮まって人々は安心の思いを抱いた。その後も時々地震があったが、大きな被害には至らなかった。この状況を諸国の親類縁者に知らせるため、天地の循環による時節の出来事を簡潔に調査して一覧にして伝えるものである。

このような困難な時節であったが、ありがたい仁政により、幕府から幸橋御門外、深川海辺、大工町、浅草広小路に直ちに小屋を建設していただき、困窮した民への救済が行われた。その他にも種々の救済措置が講じられ、この恩沢のありがたさは言葉では表現しきれない。寝食の間も忘れることなく、恐れ多くも是非ともお礼を申し上げなければならないものである。

The losses and deaths of men and women, young and old, were enormous—too numerous to record each one individually. The fires continued until the evening of the third day, when they finally subsided and people felt relieved. Although there were occasional earthquakes afterward, they did not cause major damage. In order to inform relatives and acquaintances in various provinces of this situation, I have briefly investigated and compiled this overview of events caused by the natural cycles of heaven and earth.

Despite such difficult times, thanks to benevolent governance, the shogunate immediately constructed shelters outside Saiwai-bashi Gate, at Fukagawa waterfront, Daiku-machi, and Asakusa Hirokoji to provide relief for the destitute people. Various other relief measures were also implemented. The gratitude for such generous benevolence is beyond words. We must never forget this even during our meals and sleep, and we should humbly express our deepest appreciation.
