英語訳

[Continued from previous page] ...even the wearing of swords had been prohibited. He therefore petitioned that he might be graciously exempted from [the category of] craftsmen and restored to [the status of his] ancestors. In response, in the ninth month of the same year, in accordance with his petition, he was ordered to be treated on par with the general body of retainers [go-kenin ittō]. Item: In the fifth month of the first year of Shōtoku [the year of the Rabbit, 1711], as he had previously been granted the status of go-kenin [general retainer] in accordance with his petition, and since generations of his family had also performed formal audiences [ome-mie], he petitioned that, through special benevolence, he might be granted the privilege of a formal audience [ome-mie]. In response, it being recognized that he was a person of noteworthy circumstances [wake ari], he was granted the privilege of an independent audience [dokurei], and his seat [seki] was assigned after Hinohara Bunsuke and above Nishitō Kurōdo. Item: In the eighth month of the third year of the same era [Shōtoku 3, the year of the Snake, 1713], as he had in recent years become infirm and found it difficult to continue performing his duties regarding the domain's dyeing services [o-somemono go-yō], he petitioned that he be assigned to guard duty [bansho-tsutome] instead. In response, he was assigned to the Nakanokuchi guard post [Nakanokuchi-ban], and it being recognized that he was a person of noteworthy circumstances, it was decreed that during formal audiences, he was to stand at a middle position within the independent-audience [dokurei] group of the Nakanokuchi guard. Item: On the tenth day of the eleventh month of the tenth year of Kyōhō [the year of the Snake, 1725], he died of illness. Posthumous Buddhist name: Ryūgen-in Chōkyū Nichiei Shinji. Place of burial: Hōshōzan.
