連口上書尤壱人使者ニ而手前ゟ返答申遣

見分ニ付裏付上下着用冠木御門江美濃守殿
被参候時分大番所前長柄／ながら、〖とよむ。ながえのこと】之前え立扣
罷在大御門下ゟ此方御鉄砲役之者先立其跡ニ
御破損奉行両人先立美濃守殿大番所
北通り石段被上候而少し進致会釈夫ゟ同道
之御定番町奉行御目付江も及会釈
美濃守殿二之戸前ゟ御門台之方見分有
之此方御鉄砲役之者先立次ニ御破損奉
行先立自分は御定番之次ニ立罷越候
美濃守殿書院前三之戸前ゟ書院江
被通候ニ付自分先江立書院之縁側
下ニ而及会釈美濃守江日通院日通院も
相応及挨拶美濃守殿計江三方熨
現代語訳
挨拶をされて出られ、その後菓子、濃茶、後菓子、薄茶、煮物、
田箸、盆等が出され、しばらくして引き下げられた。御城代が出座され、御目付が挨拶をした。
御本丸へ参上するにつき、番頭衆は先に立たれた。
番頭衆が立たれるのを見受けて、御加番、町奉行、堺奉行等は松■
大広間溜まで送り、その後再び書院へ罷り通り、御城代へ暇乞いを申し述べて
帰った。相番も何れも立ち帰り、玄関にて礼を申し述べた。
【○】帰りの節、相番同道で御目付小屋へ罷り越し、
上意の趣を御礼申し置き帰宅した。
【○】九月十三日、御城代へ堀河内守の用人が呼び出し
があり、明後十五日、小屋裏御石火矢、青屋
口引橋、御多門、山里内御多門、御櫓の見分を
実施すべき旨、用人を以て達しがあった。これについて堀河内守より
一名の口上書を以て返答を申し遣わし、残り三手からは
連名の口上書で、もっとも一人の使者にて手前より返答を申し遣わした。
【○】同十五日、御城代が山里内御多門、菱御櫓等の
見分につき、裏付上下を着用し、冠木御門へ美濃守殿が
参られる時分、大番所前の長柄の前へ立ち控え
罷り在った。大御門下より此方の御鉄砲役の者が先立ち、その跡に
御破損奉行両人が先立ち、美濃守殿は大番所
北通りの石段を上られ、少し進んで会釈をした。その後同道の
御定番、町奉行、御目付へも会釈に及んだ。
美濃守殿は二之戸前より御門台の方の見分があり、
此方の御鉄砲役の者が先立ち、次に御破損奉
行が先立ち、自分は御定番の次に立って罷り越した。
美濃守殿は書院前三之戸前より書院へ
通られたので、自分は先へ立って書院の縁側
下にて会釈に及んだ。美濃守へ日通院日通院も
相応に挨拶に及んだ。美濃守殿のみへ三方熨斗

After greetings were exchanged, sweets, thick tea, post-meal sweets, thin tea, boiled dishes,
chopsticks, trays, etc. were served and withdrawn after a while. The castle magistrate (jōdai) took his seat, and the inspector (metsuke) offered greetings.
For the visit to the main castle (honmaru), the guard captains (bantō-shū) departed first.
Upon seeing the guard captains depart, the additional guard (kaban), town magistrate, Sakai magistrate, etc. escorted them to the great hall anteroom, then returned to the study to bid farewell to the castle magistrate
and returned home. The duty partner also departed and offered thanks at the entrance.
【○】On the return, accompanied by the duty partner, they went to the inspector's quarters,
offered thanks for the shogun's message, and returned home.
【○】On September 13th, the castle magistrate summoned the retainer of Horikawachi-no-kami,
informing that on the day after tomorrow, the 15th, an inspection would be conducted of the rear quarters' stone firearms storage, Aoya
entrance drawbridge, multiple gates, mountain village inner multiple gates, and turrets.
This was communicated through the retainer. In response, Horikawachi-no-kami
sent a reply through a single written statement, while the remaining three units
sent a joint written statement, with one messenger delivering the response.
【○】On the same 15th, for the castle magistrate's inspection of the mountain village inner multiple gates, diamond turret, etc.,
wearing formal hakama, when Mino-no-kami arrived at the Kabuki gate,
they waited standing in front of the long spears before the main guardhouse.
From below the great gate, our firearms officials led the way, followed by
both building repair magistrates, while Mino-no-kami ascended the stone steps
on the north side of the main guardhouse, advanced a little, and exchanged greetings. Then greetings were also
exchanged with the accompanying regular guards, town magistrate, and inspector.
Mino-no-kami inspected the gate platform area from in front of the second gate.
Our firearms officials led the way, followed by the building repair
magistrates, while I positioned myself next to the regular guards.
When Mino-no-kami entered the study from in front of the third gate before the study,
I went ahead and exchanged greetings below the veranda of the study.
Greetings were also appropriately exchanged between Mino-no-kami and Nittsū-in.
