The sound could not be heard.
The solar eclipse began at 2:45 PM on August 19th of this year, starting to be obscured from the lower right. At 3:45 PM it was most pronounced at the upper left, and at 54 minutes past the hour it was completely eclipsed at the upper left. At 3:55:20 PM light began to emerge from below.
The totality lasted 1 minute and 20 seconds. During this time it became dark, and objects' colors and shapes could not be seen even at a distance of several feet.
The intense heat suddenly diminished, and lanterns were needed for sketching. The thermometer read 77.5 degrees. Around the lunar disk there were three strong lights as shown in the diagram - these were white lights. The circumference of the lunar disk appeared like a solar halo, displaying a strong white color. At 4:53:05 PM it became round again at the upper left.
This day was slightly cloudy. The thermometer read 83 degrees. At 11:45 AM, while with various friends at Tenjin Mountain, we saw the sun shining in the west, moving through flying clouds, with thunderstorms in the north.
Soon it began to rain, stopping after about 20 minutes. The sun shone through the scattered clouds, but regrettably we could not see the beginning of the eclipse. First observation at 2:45 PM. For the rest, I leave it to what you gentlemen observed.
