◯浅間はつね〳〵おそろしき山なると
いゝなしけるにさてこそ砂のふりしに
つゐつゝ
「ちごくぞといゝふらしたる浅間山
のふおそろしやはなしにも砂（スナ）
◯卯の秋のこく相場のちみれば
さほどにもあらねど諸作みのり
なきゆへひと〴〵心ほそく六道に
たとへて
「浅間しや富士（ふし）より高きこく
相場六斗の辻にまよひこそすれ
「江戸の浦にうちいで見ればしら
かゆの米の高直（たかね）にいきわきれツゝ
所（しよ）〳〵店かりまでも諸石高直
にて渡世おくりかねて何国へなりと

「高さごやこのうら店のとをあけて
現代語訳
○浅間山はいつも恐ろしい山だと言い伝えられていたが、まさにその通り砂が降り続いたことに関して詠んだ句：
「地獄だと言い触らしていた浅間山、
なんと恐ろしや、噂通りに砂が（降った）」
○卯年（天明三年）の秋の穀物相場を見れば、それほどでもないかと思うが、諸作物が実らなかったために、人々は心細く、六道（迷いの世界）にたとえて詠んだ句：
「浅間しや（浅ましや）、富士より高い穀物相場、
六斗（六道）の辻に迷い込んでしまった」
「江戸の浦に出でて見れば、白粥の米も高値になり、
生きていくことも難しくなってしまった」
あちこちで店借り（借家・小商い）をしている人まで、諸々の物価が高騰して、生計を立てることができず、どこへなりと出ていこうかと、謡（うたい）をもじって詠んだ句：
「高砂や、この浦店の戸を開けて……」
英語訳
○ Mt. Asama has always been said to be a terrifying mountain, and indeed, as the ash and sand continued to fall, people composed the following verse:
"Said to be hell itself — Mt. Asama,
How terrifying! Just as rumored, the sand falls."
○ Looking at the grain prices in autumn of the Year of the Rabbit (Tenmei 3, 1783), they may not seem so alarming at first glance, but since all the crops failed to ripen, people's hearts grew anxious. Comparing their plight to the "Six Paths" (the Buddhist realm of suffering), they composed:
"How wretched! Higher than Mt. Fuji, the grain prices,
Lost at the crossroads of the Six Paths (six-to measure)."
"Coming out to the shores of Edo and looking around,
Even the rice for plain gruel is so dear, one can barely breathe."
In various places, even those running small rented shops found all goods so expensive that they could not sustain their livelihoods, wondering where they might go, and composed a verse parodying the Noh song "Takasago":
"Takasago ya — opening the door of this rented shoreside shop…"
